Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Good morning Mahonri!

At least we didn't wake up to snow on the ground again this morning. I was kinda surprised to see it yesterday morning. It was gone by the afternoon thank goodness.
Mahonri, glad to hear that EE roo tastes good since I have two from the NYD hatch we will process when they get a little bigger. I have two lav orp roos that we will eventually process as well.
Lotsapaints just sent you a PM about the turkey eggs.

I am really glad I resisted the "hatchery choice" poults they had at the feed store yesterday. They were probably BBW's and I don't really want that breed. Of course the feed store folks had no idea what breed they were

My Spring chick hatch is complete! Set 56, locked down 50, hatched 46.

All 5 IA Blues hatched:

6 of 12 shipped Lavender Ameraucana eggs from CrystalCreek hatched - 4 lav/2 black lav carriers. The last lav took a long time to hatch and got pretty dried out. I helped her with the shell Sunday morning and she dried up kind of sticky. She looks to be doing well this morning though you can tell she's a little behind the others in balance and walking skills. I hope she doesn't get trampled

And of course lots of EEs.

6 Cochin/EEs 3 look like this and 3 are a bit more blue. All splash? Could get white too I think.

I hatched 14 Welsummer/EE crosses and the rest Ameraucana/EEs.

Into lockdown with my Crystal Creek eggs. Good development for shipped eggs, 2 clears, 3 early losses (bloodrings/arrested development), 19 into lockdown. This clutch is up in the air because after 19 days of rock stable temps/humidity, the temp spiked to 106. Yikes.

All is stable again now, but hope that temp spike didn't zap them.

Looking forward to setting for the Easter hatch.

Plans for the incubator:

B/B/S Ameraucana x Blue Homozygous Cuckoo split to gold Marans roosters - collecting all the blue eggs to make F1 Blue/Black Cuckoo +/- Gold Olive Eggers
Blue and Silver Blue Marans x Blue Cuckoo split to gold Marans roosters - collecting the smoothest and darkest of the eggs for the next generation B/B/S Cuckoo +/- Silver/Gold Marans
Shipped Eggs - Iowa Blues from Karimw (thanks!)

So come on, share, what are you planning for the big hatchathon?

Well I'm still in shock from the last hatch, but I'm planning on 2 dozen BCM, GLW and RIR eggs from FlashPointFarm and some more from my own flock if I can't find some Silver Laced Wyandottes and Lavender Orps. Anyone have some of those they would part with?

Yesterday was my husband and my anniversary. DD lives in Phoenix and brought me...eggs. But it gets even better... eggs from Mahonri. At precisely 3:31 this morning, I was sitting puffy eyes, haystack haired, goggling at my new eggs. They are exsquisite. The BCM are brown, brown, ever so brown with lovely freckles. The Americauna eggs (wheaten Americaunas did I mention) are gorgeous pale blue with such a sheen to them. They are like giant, beautiful jellybeans.
Thank you Mahonri,
Thank you Tatiana,
I am absurdly happy!
