Thank you!

And Kathy, can you also make a note of it!!!

We'll call it "revolutionmamas first chick" prize contest...

Myyyyy! I had sworn I was in this for the fun of it and now I am so tempted. However - I am setting early and cannot compete. Or......Is there anyway I can slip in a few eggs on the actual date we are supposed to be setting eggs? Is that what they call staggered hatching? Maybe I will try that since the pot has been sweetened so.

ah, but the gorgeous eggs that you have should make up for it right?.....

Hello, everyone! It looks like it's been an eventful week; I've missed so much! All the little chickies are adorable, and I can't wait to have some fluffernutters of my own!

The eggs I purchased will be mailed on Monday. I live in a rural area, and my mail is generally delivered by noon by a lady in a little station wagon. Do you think that I should stop into the post office and ask them to hold my eggs until I can pick them up after work, or should I leave them to my mail carrier? I am actually nervous about speaking to the post office because I don't want them to think that I don't trust my mail carrier, and I don't want to insult her. What should I do? Any recommendations?

Works great for the early times, and doubles as chicken TV. Love it.

Got a bigger one they move into after the first week or so. The first couple weeks I like them in the house where I can watch them. After that they move to the outdoor chickie house.

I have all my eggs held at the PO, in fact I ask every seller to include my ph# on the box "call for pick-up". My PO manager calls me when she gets in and I pick them up before the PO even opens. I also try to remember to call the day before & give them a heads up. I would call your PO, I am sure they would be more then happy to hold them for you.

My auction is up! Link is in my signature line. Mahonri, you must receive the explicit written permission of DW to participate in the bidding. I will not be held responsible for "the look".

I will offer up half a dozen of my hatching eggs, including shipping, as a prize!

Mahonri can choose where the prize be allocated, but I think it would be a nice consolation prize for someone who has unusually bad luck, despite his/her best efforts. Perhaps some others with nice eggs would be willing to add to this in order to bring the recipient's consolation prize hatch up to about two dozen or so. Recipient must demonstrate good sportsmanship/positive attitude that Mahonri hatch-a-long participants are known for. Y'all decide the rules!

As a former postal carrier, I can tell you that your carrier would appreciate you letting them know how you'd like the eggs handled. You can call the Post Office or leave a note in your box with the flag up saying that you're expecting a very important package from (town, state) and it will have your phone number on the front. Please watch for it and call as soon as they see it. My postmaster and carrier at my hometown p.o. are always told when I'm expecting birds or chicks and are happy to call when they arrive. Live birds are easier to recognize than a box of eggs. The package may simply be in a container with a bunch of other packages, so telling your carrier is important. I hope you have a great hatch with them!!
