Who can forget about turkens?! In all honesty I can't bill them as anything more than glorified half naked mutts (and only half of them at that)... but they sure are cute to have in the yard.

I'm still thinking about a white egg laying turken project ... specially considering I now have an accidental white leghorn roo in my basement (although he's only 4 weeks old, I don't care if it is spring, that's still a bit young).

Also wanted to add on Friday April Fool's Day we're under a "Winter Storm Warning" ... anyone else see the fun irony of a winter storm warning in spring on April Fools?

Thanks, wolftracks. I think she's gorgeous too. She's the best type of chicken (in my book): a mutt! (ok, ok I love ALL chickens equally)

I have no idea what she is or might be. She's speckled and has feathered shanks and toes. I got her for 50 cents at a chicken swap. I only bought her because I wanted my turken rooster and I didn't want him to be alone in isolation for 4 to 6 weeks. I picked her out of the cheapie bin as an 8 week old ... I picked her as I had never had a banty before!

I mated her to the turken roo for the NY hatch but as speckles are recessive traits she threw a columbian patterned turken just like its daddy although with feathered legs/toes. This was the chick Joe Camel (who now is Jo Camel) that is on the right:

I have some that I was going to use for a project, but I lost the ones I really wanted to work with. They're kind of cool looking though. Your girl is beautiful. Too bad you can't copy that.

Linda I know how you feel and I'm so sorry. I hope tomorrow is better. Diet Pepsi isn't good for you though!

Well I just got an egg from one of my BCMs. One egg all day! Oh I take that back. Found 3 Olive eggs, from the egg hider. Stupid bird lays in the mud! Didn't find this hiding place till today,k so 3 eggs. I figured what the heck and wiped the 2 dirty ones off. So only up to 8 eggs so far. All the eggs I could have ordered would have been here too soon.

I've done it and had no problems. IMHO... I think not doing it will create more problems being that the fan gets so dirty.

Off to look at my fan....

My new bator came and it looks to be undamaged. Going to set it up for a stabilizing, then load the van for tomorrow's 8 hour trip to pick up my new Ameraucanas and my own and yotetrapper's eggs. Its getting close and everything is starting to fall in place [Thank you God!]
