Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Just checking in.... home sick today.... (stupid fibro, I am SO freakin' tired of this) and the weather outside is gorgeous so some of the time I will be sitting outside with a diet Pepsi just watching chickens. I might get some photos!

Seriously though, sorry to hear that your fibro is acting up.

I knew a lady with it one time and she had a devil of a time with it when it was acting up. Hope you feel better tomorrow! More

ETA - if you are feeling good enough to go to work tomorrow, make sure you double check your pants!

I think there are a lot of people debating on when to set eggs that arrived today or maybe even tomorrow. My eggs should arrive tomorrow and I will let them rest a day and then I really may consider setting them on Friday instead of waiting. I know we all pay a lot of money for these shipped eggs and it is a hard decision on whether or not to wait until Sat. If all my eggs don't come tomorrow and I am waiting on one box, I may tough it out and wait until the official set time. It is a dilemma for sure. I guess everyone should just use their own judgement on if they want to set them early or not.

Here's an updated list of the contests that are going to be running.
Ok, I've got big shoes to fill (thanks Kathy)... but I'm going to do my absolute best to keep track of the contests and prizes. If I'm missing anything or you'd like to clarify your prize/contest/etc please let me know via posting here or PM.

Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC Easter Hatch Contests:

1. Best Hatch Rate Contest:

For this contest during this hatch, participants will be hatching a minimum of 20 eggs. Post how many you will have cooking by Monday 04 April 2011 and then don't go back and edit your post where you tell us how many eggs you start with. When the hatch is over, you'll take a pic and post it to show us how many you actually got... it would be nice if we could count them.
In the event of a tie, the one who hatches the most chicks wins.
Prize: 6 month GFM sponsored by BYC/Nifty!

2. Cutest Chick Picture:
Pic will need to be taken and posted by or before 11:59PM EST on April 26th... We'll be asking folks in the hatch as well as some moderators to help me judge if they are willing. There will be 1st and 2nd place awards given

3. Guess for # of chicks Mahonri hatches:
Guesses need to be made before 11:59:59PM EST on April 6th. The guesses will be posted on post 1 somewhere beside the hatch participant's name.
In order to help break a tie, you'll also need to guess the breeds of the first three chicks out. If you want to know what breeds are in Mahonri's bator read the thread!
Prize: 6 month GFM sponsored by Mahonri

4. Best Overall Hatch Participant:
This will be determined by vote of participants in a PM to Mahonri. Votes will start on April 25th and end on April 27th.

Thanks, wolftracks. I think she's gorgeous too. She's the best type of chicken (in my book): a mutt! (ok, ok I love ALL chickens equally)

I have no idea what she is or might be. She's speckled and has feathered shanks and toes. I got her for 50 cents at a chicken swap. I only bought her because I wanted my turken rooster and I didn't want him to be alone in isolation for 4 to 6 weeks. I picked her out of the cheapie bin as an 8 week old ... I picked her as I had never had a banty before!

I mated her to the turken roo for the NY hatch but as speckles are recessive traits she threw a columbian patterned turken just like its daddy although with feathered legs/toes. This was the chick Joe Camel (who now is Jo Camel) that is on the right:
