Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

I was just reading and going to save my spot and when I saw the first pic of your bird I didn't realize it was real. LOL

She's sooooo pretty.

What is she?

My grand daughter says we need that kind of bird.

My eggs are on their way right now! I thought they'd be here tomorrow. Do you think its not worth setting my eggs on sat. if they're here today? I'm torn. They're O-shamo eggs, and then I got some silkie eggs on the way too. Plus I'd hate to do a staggered hatch. hmmm, advice?

They need to rest anyway so you might as well at least wait a day. My eggs should be here tomorrow and I will let them rest first.

Broke my d'Uccle broody, so I am accumulating eggs. They're lined up, just waiting to be 'cooked'.

Most that go in will be millies, but I have a couple of black d'Uccle eggs and a couple of goldneck or white d'Uccle eggs. After that the empty spaces will be lavenders.

I don't think I should set them until Sunday, though. My eggs always erupt on day 20, even with perfect temps and humidity. If I set mine on Saturday I'm afraid they'll all be here right around Good Friday....

When do your other eggs come? I always have this problem too. I am going to wait to set mine all at once. Last time I tried to do it a day 2 days apart from each other and I think it messed up the eggs that were 2 days behind. Hoping someone else can chime in and give you advice. I never know what to do when my shipped eggs come on different days.

I don't believe 3 days will be a problem, at least in my experience it has proved to be just fine.

How many times can I candle before I might have to admit I have a problem?

AK Michelle: I have heard those really white Icelandic eggs are so clear that candling can become addictive! I love when I have white eggs to candle, you can see so much it is really fun!

Not sure if you found someone already to help with your project, but I speak Spanish fluently (speak, read, and write it) as it is my first language.

Fabulous!!

Dar & jl, I'm soooo going to get with you on this more later- this is really great news! I'll let you know what I need and whatnot- can you pm me about whether you've had any experience with dialects from Peru/Chile, or what your region is...etc? Mind you, I can only say hola and burrito, so I desperately need help with this.
