Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Could be. I only have a name for my sperm donor.....

Found mine 10 years ago. Ended up I had a pretty good daddy. Too bad he didn't know about me. Lost him 9 days after my mom last year and just over a month before Bill. And I got 2 more brothers and 2 more sisters and a living grandmother. Long story about all that, but him and my mom started talking and cleared things up. If he couldn't get hold of me, he called my mom. They'd spend a minimum of 2 hours on the phone every time. LOL I found out where my quirks that weren't like everyone else came from.

My SS eggies came in--only 1 of 10 were broken.

For the non-AZ people: my 2 yrold has been icky sick lately. Last night he kept us up all night---at one point waking me up with a full-weight head slam onto my mouth. I was SURE I would have a fat lip.

Anywhoo, the fat lip never materialized. However, apparently I havent looked in a mirror all day today: the right corner of my lips and the inside of my mouth is black & blue. It is like I was chewing on a Sharpie! Sorry Dar--I guess that means I also forgot to brush my teeth today.

LOL

My now 32 year old daughter gave me my darkest black eye with a broom when she was 4. I remind her and she say "yeah, and don't forget, I'm the though one."

Did you floss?

Uggghhh. Lost the auction... sure hope the person who got greenfamilyfarms BO eggs on ebay last sunday has a great hatch, not cuz i appreciate being outbid, but cuz, i'm a nice person, and i'm sure those chicks deserve a good life. sigh. Then my hens were laying sooo well that i told one of my buyers so, today she took all 4 dozen, which means... i have 4 eggs right now, with a whole day and a half to go, hence, on saturday at noon, i may have about 13 or so eggs. while that sounds good, my rooster has turned into a breed snob and, based on my last hatch, has shown a definite preference for the barred rocks, so of those 13 eggs, only seven or eight will be fertile.

On the good side... I may not be prepared for the hatch, but I have a funny picture!!

i would expect most egg buyers would be understanding about the egg mishap, and will appreciate your honest efforts to make it right. at least you know they weren't buying them for this hatch along!

I thought I was the only one with frantic bad days. As my aunt always tell me, this too shall pass. Not that it does any good. But honestly, I can't imagine anyone getting that upset about it. They're pretty much getting free eggs. The only reason i'd be upset is if it were for the easter hatch and I had a time limit. But even then I'd understand. You can drink a cup of tea with me as we surf the web and relax from a stressful day!

Hey their countrygirl, check out this thread, it's all about broodies.... someone there should know the answers to your questions.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=457488&p=36

Oh
, I was so sick with myself today! So I got my eggs today from NYREDS, my dominque eggs. And I carefully unwrapped them, and none were broken, and he sent 4 extras even! So, I set them all up in an egg rack, to settle and wait for Saturday, and they were on my counter. So, I decide to set up incubator #3 on said counter, and the eggs were in the way, so, I go to push the flat out of the way, and it catches on a piece of the counter somehow, and 2 of my precious dom eggs pop out of the counter and I hear CRACK CRACK as each of them cracks. I was, and still am, sick about it.

So, I need to get to bed, as in the morning I'm off to meet STEVEH to pick up white Ameraucana eggs, cornish x eggs and who knows what all else....

OMG you mean it wasn't just me?

Must have been drop the egg day.

I would have had one more, but we hadn't been home all day and GD tried to collect more than she could carry. Told her no more collecting without grandma and that way I can help her. She's so good about picking them up carefully, then she holds them pointy end down when she brings them in. She just got too excited when she say all the eggs.

One of my shipped eggs had a crack in, but for as many eggs as I had shipped, I'd say that's pretty good.

And the packaging for those eggs was unbelievable good!! I have no idea how one got cracked, but it was on a corner of the carton.

Guess you all noticed I was chosen as an Arizona Zone Leader for the National Chain of BYC Restaurant eggs... and the $2.97 a dozen will come in handy when breeding season is over.
