Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Finally caught up with this crazy thread! I set 28 eggs.
big_smile.png

19 Silver Sussex, 8 Silver Grey Dorkings and a mystery egg.

My mystery egg is a very good size for a first egg and it's tinted/pale brown so it had better not be from a Dorking or my Wellie so that only leaves the RIR. Haven't seen her near the nest though so it is a bit of a mystery.

Hoping I get some SS chicks, all the eggs are laid by the one hen so some are getting rather old but I figured it didn't hurt to try them.

Here are pics of my eggs and my incubator. Ended up with 27 eggs instead of 25. First time ever incubating eggs. Hope the old, tried and true incubator I got will help me have a good hatch!!

7 Icelandics
20 Auburn Java (some of these are from a SLW pullet in with them)

2. PMed Tazcat70 your guess for the TOTAL number of chicks hatched by all the Easter Hatch participants?

3. Submitted your "funniest chicken picture" to this thread?

4. Submitted your "incubator tetris skills picture" to this thread?

5. Submitted your best caption for the "caption that photo" contest to this thread?

This is not for the chicken license plate competition, but I just had to try this! This is how license plates looked when I was growing up in Jersey:
80987_license_20110403061504_26080.jpg

I'm so happy to see that they have the older plates! What fun.

As for my chickies-to-be, temperature and humidity are holding steady. Oh boy, this is going to be a long wait! I tried candling my eggs before I put them in yesterday and just freaked myself out. I couldn't see air sacs in any of them, and some were a bit too clear-speckled, I think. But, it was midday in my dining room, so maybe it was too bright, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing anyway, so I just put them all in and am hoping for the best. Now it's just a waiting game...

I'm enjoying everyone's pictures. I have no idea how I am going to keep up with this thread once I go back to work, but I'll try! It will give me something to think about so I don't keep going over and peering in through the window of my incubator every five minutes! (Not that I'm doing that...
