I see why you PMed me about the color of your new "White? Ameraucana" hatchlings.

I knew that some can easily pass for lavender or blue when hatched; I apologize for not warning you. I suppose the color of the down on recessive white chicks might be a tell on each chick's genotype; but I sure don't know what means what, nor which, if any, would be the most desired.

Here is my entry for the cutest chick...

For those who didn't see her story in my previous post.... This little chick stole my heart when it hatched against all odds... She (hopefully) hatched on her own with a crossed beak and only one eye.. Many people would have culled but she has the will to survive and as long as I can teach her to eat, I will keep her and give her the extra attention she needs... Of course, if she does not thrive, I will cull her.. If she does, I will never breed her!!

at last check I had 26 out and 1 zipping plus looks like 2 more pips. I will check in am. I would expect to be done then. Still if I get 28 or 29 out of 41 that fried on day 7 lie they did I will be amazed. They are coming out pretty good now, Needed to up the humidity more tha I ever have and its 55 percent in my basement to start with and they come out way more shakey than they usually do. Kick over on there back and flop around, but in a couple of hrs they are up and around just fine.

Well, my hatch is done! I'd be going on and on about how the last day, today, went but instead I'll cut it short.

I got 2 Easter Eggers, 3 complete surprises (Blue Wheaten Olive Eggers!) 2 normal Olive Eggers (one is a barred rumpless girl!) and all 5 Polish hatched out.

^ The incubator in the end. Unhatched eggs were duds. The wet chick on the left is a blue Olive Egger. Chick on the right is a little runt Polish, and so far the fav of the flock.
