I just didn't want you to throw out eggs too early, I have done that before and always wondered if they would of made it. I have also had eggs that I thought were clear and I gave them a few more days and by day 10 they had veins and were growing. I sure hope your remaining 13 hatch for you.

i left some of them in there to see what the look like on day 10 but the ones it trew away when you candled them you can tell the yolk was not intact there was not an air cell either and on some of them the air cell looked funny was weird shaped on them i let them set a little while when i got them them placed them in the incubator but after 5 days i could tell the ones i threw away were no good waiting to see if the others i left in there will develop i just hope i get a few chicks out of it its better than none

I just went down to show my incubator to someone who came by to pick up chicks and

They say 40% is good for shipped eggs, so if you think about it...13 developing for sure is good. My last successful hatch, I had a tiny pullet sized lav ameracana egg that the aircell was huge and misshapen. I thought for sure it wasn't good...in fact, most of the eggs had strange misshapen and jiggly air cell. That lav ameracauna hatched out just fine. She is absolutely tiny compared to some of the others, but she's feisty. I also had a few others hatch, not a great hatch rate but it was something. I also had a group of eggs shipped all the way from Idaho, to CT, and had about a 75% hatchrate, in that same batch. Shipping truly does do bad things to eggs. I wouldn't ever pull any til at least day 10...thats me personally. And I only do in ones that are absolutely positively not developed or blood rings. You'll do fine! Of course, this is coming from the other person with a 0% hatchrate. I check my temps constantly. I had it dip to 97-98 all day today...so I'm worried too.

The eggs I set when I locked down for the Easter hatch go into lockdown Sunday, with another batch four days behind them. Today I discovered I had never plugged in the turner.

[I feel so STUPID!] I'll let you all know how it turns out.

I wouldn't worry about the dip in temperatures for a few hours, I think they'll be fine.

Steve, I read a University study that showed that no turning with all other variables being the same actually resulted in a higher hatch rate... This was over thousands of eggs hatched... so I wouldn't give up on them! I am very interested to hear how your hatch turns out though so please be sure to update us...

The eggs I set (from my own brahmas) on the Monday before Easter (after my really early ducks vacated the bator) are due in a couple of days too! Candled last night and decided to lockdown, so all set ready to go. Am experimenting with using an antibacterial agent in the water troughs for this hatch, so we'll see how it goes. Hope I don't gas them all!

SteveH best of luck with your static hatch!
