Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

My broody in the bush in front of the house was just off the nest so I snagged a quick picture... Should be hatching in about 10 days..

I'm glad you're getting better.

I'm doing great, but have to see the doc tomorrow; I've found several ticks over the past two weeks, four or five were deer ticks, and one bite has a red rash around it. It doesn't look like a bullseye to me, but none of the others have ever had a a rash so I'm going to let the doc look at it. [Last year they treated me with antibiotics to prevent Lymes Disease after I found my first ever deer tick, but I found another half dozen on me over the summer and never went back.]

Thirteen out of fourteen eggs went to lockdown tonight.

ETA: I think the doctor visit will be worth the money now. I fell asleep reading in bed last night. At 3:15 this morning, some kind of bug attracted to the light on my headboard got confused and flew into my right ear.

I don't know much about human anatomy, but evidently the ear, eye, throat, and nose must all be connected. After that stupid bug got though beating its wings inside my ear, it went for a walk. I coughed, I gagged, tears streamed from my right eye, snot ran from my right nostril, and I got a headache so bad it was making me sick to my stomach. At 4:30 I nearly drove to the emergency room, but I remembered Vicodin stopped my cough back when I had that bronchial infection and infuenza, so I went outside and got two of my last six I was saving in the glove box for the weight pull event I'm driving to Sunday. [My back and neck don't like driving nor all the stuff I have to do when working the dogs] Sure 'nuff, it worked; I've gagged and coughed up a little blood once since, but not feeling like I got a coal miner working his way through my head now.

I'm not sure exactly where the bug stopped at or if it's still alive; I just hope the doc can get it out and write me a refill for the Vicodine.

My word!

I'm soooooo sorry!!!

That's just awful, and I think you need to buy a lottery ticket, because you're due some GOOD HAPPENINGS!!!

Please keep us updated. I hope the doc can help very quickly. That's hideous.

Praying for you!

wow, can't believe the easter thread is still going. lol
I have been buried in work the past couple of days but I have a goose hatch happening yesterday and today. Already wildly successful compared to last year which was my "learning" year

Mine are too wild to get pics of. They're growing in a converted rabbit hutch, and run inside whenever I get near. Most are Ameraucana, and so far mine have been that way 'till they're about half grown; maybe because I rarely handle them.

The bug had escaped my ear without my knowing it; I had felt it move again at 8 A.M. and put my head sideways to try and shake it out. I didn't feel it come out nor move again, so was afraid it either had died in there, or worse, was just resting up from its busy morning.

All my coughing and stuff just from nerves near the ear drum being touched; it did not gnaw through to my nose or throat, or brain.

He had the nurse flush my ear anyway; I guess just as a lesson not to come in complaining of a bug in my ear.

He said the one tic bite did not have a very typical halo, but since it was developing a rash around it, started me on the antibiotic that prevents Lymmes from spreading if you take it soon enough.

Do you have any guineas? They eat ticks and can get a place practically clear, but they are noisy - sounds like you need "SOMETHING" to protect you.

chin up!
