Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

I am the lucky recipient of a "transparent hen". It was in the storage shed of one of the local elementary schools. I will let you all know how it goes.

The Easter chicks moved outside at 5 weeks old, and at just over 6 weeks, they broke out of their admittedly unfinished run! (ETA: The chicken wire will be covered by stronger wire.) I was so surprised to come up to see them and find them scratching around the hollow! Talli was surprised as well!

We're building an 8x8 coop this weekend from BYC member elmo's plans on here. The 11 Easter chicks will move into the bigger coop and the six 2-week old Ameraucana chicks will eventually move into the 4x4 until they are bigger.

I am having so much fun owning chickens!!!

I have two lawn chairs set up by their run, and my DH and I go sit and watch them in the evenings now.

The transparent hen is...superb. Babies hatched out starting this morning. I will go home this afternoon and see if the last two made it out of the shell. I am constantly amazed at how well old things work. Now if I could just say the same for myself!
