Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

I mailed off my money yesterday to the breeders I'm ordering eggs from for this hatch...woohoo! I currently have cuckoo marans eggs, plus two of my own, in my bator. I'm amazed that some people put their bators in storage for extended periods of time! LOL

My only suggestion on taxes is NEVER do them in red crayon! One of the guys I work with did that one year (he was upset with the IRS, imagine that ) and was audited every year for the next 20 years. It took a letter to our congresswoman (Gabrielle Giffords and she is doing so much better now) to get them to stop. So no red crayon!

At Mahonri - I figured you were such a hatcher that it was instinctual to replace the egg pointy side down. It is like using your turn signals even when out on a dirt road - just cause you always do it.
At Steve - a 20lb. rooster. I am trying to visualize that but my mind just cannot quite wrap around it.

I would think it would help but sometimes I wish a few of mine were smaller. I have a percheron cross mare and she likes to think that I am her fourth leg when I am doing her feet. 1600 lbs of horse on your back gets you tired really fast!

Of course her's are the biggest and the thickest feet so she takes the longest too.

As you can see by my signature line, I've got both ends of the spectrum: 17 hands and 36 inches. My farrier has a good sense of humor fortunately

I'm with CrystalCreek here! Love Freisians! BTW my percheron cross mare is 17.2 and I have another American Warmblood mare who is the same height but built more like a TB so not as heavy. The AWB's daughter is a Knabstrupper but won't be as tall as her mom. She will probably wind up around 16.2 like her full sister.

I opened the "bator" OOPS

Lifted the hen up after multiple pecks, one marans chick out, And I could see and hear an Ameraucana pipped.

I didn't touch the egg!

I may get TWO miracle babies!

Mahonri, that is great news. You may get more than 2, maybe the eggs getting a little cold just slowed them up a bit.
