I'm not too experienced...................... but remember reading that someone didn't turn shipped eggs with detached air cells at all............... and some hatched. I'll bet you're OK.

Well my next hatch goes into lockdown tomorrow. Polish and ameraucana eggs. I won't be here for the hatch however. I am leaving with youngest DS (15) on Friday to go to Oregon for my Dad's memorial service on Sunday. With the mini van out of comission for at least another week, there was no way for all of us to go. (There are 6 of us in the family now with DS #1 out on his own)

My oldest son had just left from visiting for a week for his first duty station up in WA state the day my Dad passed. He is all alone up there and having a very hard time dealing with dad's passing. We did not think they would give him leave to go down for the services. But his sponsor came by to show him around and hang out yesterday and DS told her what had happened and that he just wanted to stay in his room. She went to his command and notified them of his loss and they told him he can take whatever time he needs. A far cry from what it is like in the Marines. (I was home alone with a 3 yr old and 7 1/2 months pregnant with my youngest DS when I got news my grandfather passed. DH was on 24hr duty and because it was not "immediate family" they would not even let him come home.)

So this is a blessing that he will be able to be there. He is planning on wearing his blues. My Dad would be so proud of him. I bought him a train ticket today. My stepmom has very gernerously offered DS my Dad's car. Such and incredible gift. It is an old mini van. But I know deep down nothing would make my Dad happier than to help DS out in this way.

Some good news, while the transmission is gone in my mini van, the extended powertrain warranty is paying 100% of the repairs. They said it was locked up so bad they could not even take it apart to find out what happened. Holy Cow! There is NO WAY we would have been able to pay for this.

I appreciate to out pouring of support from all of you, especially considering this is a hatching thread. I think you for embracing me and listening.

Best of luck to everyone with all the pre Easter hatches going on.

Off to search the web for a second bator for this hatch. A bad, wicked, enabler named Kathy tempted me in to doing some chicken math....................... but I doubt my one bator understands chicken math.................. and I ain't got the talent some of you have at stacking.

Yeah...I noticed tonight I'm only going to clear a dozen spots over the next day or so, and I've got nearly a hundred to set or go to waste...NOT GOOD!

Tricia, there are many things more important than this hatching thread for me; I'm sure that's true for everyone else also. It's so nice your son gets leave to pay his respect and perhaps gain some closure. The warranty covering your transmission is also great news, thanks for sharing that.
Have a safe trip, my prayers are with you still, and we'll all be here to welcome you "home" next week.

DW got home with DD at about 11:15 from the ER. The plastic surgeon did a fantastic job... DD won't be going back to school tomorrow from her spring break... she'll be spending it at the office getting her teeth x-rayed and fixed... poor thing is going to be sore.

Tricia, so glad you can go and your sons also.... and that the warranty kicked in for you. Prayers will continue for you and your family.

Nice to hear good updates from you guys, Nosey and Mahonri. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both.

We got about 4-5 inches of snow last night. About an hour before sunset a deer and her two babies from last spring were in my yard - they ate a bit and then laid down and took a nap until sunset in the trees. What a treat to watch.

When I got home exhausted on Sunday I discovered my banty was broody (again! That girl lays about 10 eggs then goes broody and stops laying for 6 weeks, then the cycle repeats). Boyfriend reports the last week she's been hanging around the nest box but not in it at night. So I removed her Sunday (and boy she was angry and all puffed up) only to of course find her back on Monday stealing everyone's eggs. The enabler that he is, boyfriend suggested I just let her be a momma. Despite the fact that my coop is already crowded and I've got 18 eggs for the Easter hatch coming, I gave her 4 eggs: EE, SS, phoenix and her own (all x turken dad). They're due to hatch out on 04.11.11 - a good day since that's the day I stop being a manager and go back to being a real person again! Although poor boyfriend then takes over the position...

Back to work today
