Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

The weather here has been outstanding. About a week in the 60s and 70s which is very rare for March. But, now theyre saying snow for this weekend....bleh. I love snow, just not in March! I'm ready for spring, and planting the garden.

I'm going to have 2 empty incubators.......maybe my eggs on order will show up for the Easter Hatch now that would be cool or I'll just put Turkey eggs in Saturday and see what else I want to hatch..getting rain now and going to have it for a few days well the creek is just trickling and I'm getting those eggs out dsqard.....now that I know where they go

I'm in Casa Grande. We first moved here 9 years ago. We moved back almost 2 and while its grown a lot, not much has changed. We still have that grocery store down town that's like taking 10 steps back in town, the little taco joint across from the high school (not a school anymore). We finally have a movie theater that has padded seats, real step up from metal folding chairs. lol. But I love it here. I don't have a neighbors for 1 mile radius. But, my closest is a dairy farm....mmmmm....cow smell, gotta love it

At least they can't complain of the chicken smell!!

No neighbors for a mile sounds really nice!

I'm sure I'd enjoy not having neighbors most of the time, but I enjoy living in town, too- having the chickens out on the farm and a home flock at the house is really nice. If only it was MY farm and I could go back and forth to live!

I went to Cottonwood Elementary 30 years ago, and I remember getting Long Johns at Bashas' everytime I went with Mom to the grocery store. I will never have refritos that taste as good as those at Lil Sombrero, because memory is cruel that way. I still remember the address: 851 Palm Park Blvd. We'd walk a long ways to get to Circle K and buy Pop Rocks...man, the 70s were just in Arizona for me, so that's how my memory categorizes. The 80's were full of Kansas! The 90s were New York, traveling, babies...weird that way.

It's a gorgeous Spring day here- hope everyone has a great day!

Edited for an apostrophe catastrophe.

Good morning everyone!! What a beautiful morning!! The sun is out and the sky is blue for the first time in I don't remember when..(Since this is Idaho, we'll probably have a blizzard by noon) We'll enjoy the day while it lasts... Hope everyone has a great day and that all the eggs going into transit this week are handled with care!!

ChooksChick, I think I miss the sunrises and sunsets the most now that I don't live in AZ. There is no other place that I have lived (and I have lived in a lot of places) where they are as spectacular. I don't know what it is about the AZ air but I would take pictures of them at least once a month if not more often. I would chalk it up to the setting an altitude, but I live in a similar setting (valleys surrounded by mountains) and almost the same altitude and the sunrises and sunsets are mostly ho-hum here. Someday.........

I've given up on the weather over here with all this back and forth. Yesterday was so hot all day I didn't even think to look at the weather reports. Put my kids in t-shirts and headed to baseball practice.... Well by the end of practice it was freezing!!!

I was so excited and looking forward to Bible Study tonight and now I don't think I will be able to make it. I can't see when it rains and can't fathom taking my babies out in that type of weather anyways.

Need to do a lot of running the next few dayas and same thing here. I'm so sick of the rain and cold. Grand daughter went out in a sun dress the other day and then yelled from the neighbors house for me to go get her, cause she was cold. Walked over with a blanket and carried her home. Man that girl is getting big. My aching back!

I woke this morning and went to feed my new babies and found one of my just hatched blue AMs dead. It looked perfectly fine. I fed and watered a little after midnight and they were all running a round and eating and drinking. I have one little mixed chick from my grand daughters hen in there that is a little puny in comparison and figured it might not hold up, but it's fine. After losing most of my brooder in the garage I was so sad to find this chick.

OK car to the shop. Was supposed to be there yesterday and the cat drama was so thick I didn't get in and if I don't do it now, I won't have breaks until next week. Not good!
