It hit 101 here yesterday. A gal from Gilbert called me to tell me she lost a hen to the heat, I gave her ideas on how to keep them cool for the next 6 months.

IT'S SET DAY! I suppose our Aussie friends and European friends set quite some time ago and it will be another 12-13 hours for our friends in Alaska.

Very soon the ladies will start laying the final eggs that can get crammed in your incubators. Don't forget to tetris your incubators and take pictures for The Birdguys Best Incubator Tetris Stacking Contest. Remember, to be eligible for the best hatch rate contest you have to set at least 20 eggs. Why not set more and qualify for both contests?

Once you get your eggs set the other WEEK ONE (yes, it is FINALLY here) contest will also start: get your funniest chicken picture out for NoseyChicken's contest.

Start posting your submissions on this hatch thread, we'll take care of compiling them.

Also don't forget to go to Laree's spreadsheet and fill out how many you're hatching and your guess for how many and what type Mahonri will hatch.

I don't have a final count on the # eggs I am setting yet. Have to get the last from my girls and go pick up some BLRW from greeneacre.

I am so excited! This is my first hatch! I have had my incubator temp stabalized for a full day and think I have spent far too many hours reading these message boards lol. If anyone has any words of wisdom for newbies please let me know Happy Hatching Everyone!

Will BYC members still be selling hatching eggs when this hatch is over, or does it slow down in the warmer months? I am trying to restrain myself.

Maybe it's best that I have so few eggs since it is my first hatch...

It will slow down some in the hottest months but I think there will be PLENTY of auctions after this hatch is over.
