I candled last night, of 112 eggs, I have only 63 left. A good portion were a project which weren't fertile but I knew ahead of time they might not be, so all is good. My one batch of shipped dominique eggs were completely scrambled by the post office, and were all a loss (The wonderful seller offered to resend if I just pay shipping!)....

So, left, I have:

11 pumpkin hulseys
1 very iffy dominique (don't think it's alive, but not 100% sure?)
8 white Ameraucana
5 Mille fleur cochins
6 Salmon faverolles
1 corninsh x
and 31 of 40 of my own eggs.

What I find to be hilarious, is out of all the eggs, shipped and not shipped, the best development was from the pumpkin hulseys, shipped eggs that I let sit on my counter, un-turned, for 5 days after receiving them in the mail. Hmmm is that the trick to good hatches? Let your eggs sit around over a week before incubating? lol.

Rachel, one of my turkey hens, is in love with the Jeep. She cries when the menfolk work on it, and if they leave the hood up, she runs over to make sure it is OK when I let the birds out.

Can you find her, laying her egg?

I did mean the bird in the avatar, sorry. I am depserately trying to avoid having any ducks, but that pic has set me off again. There are a few people breeding them here, so I might get some eggs if I'm lucky. Are they big? Any special requirements for them? I hope they are tiny as I can't be doing with big ducks pooing everywhere. Had mallards as a kid and boy do they make a mess.
