Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Ok, it's official! We're opening up the "Strangest place they lay contest" to roosters, now too.

Desperate for pictures we are (said of course in my best Yoda voice).

I'm so tired I feel like I'm already toast and my butts already been buttered.

Finally got our phones fixed. I'm so tired of cable companies.

I've got to clean out the coop and make some room. I have a guy coming over tomorrow to buy 6 almost point of lay pullets from me from the new years hatch. It makes me sad but I'm going to sell my 2 remaining BLRWs along with the turkens.

I know it needs to be done and it's part of the cycle of chickens. I'm going to keep my EE NN though that's absolutely gorgeous. She's the one in the front left here.

The only thing I see that could compromise your fabulous plan is that chicks fit through chickenwire holes...so put a double layer up on the bottom 6"!

Otherwise, I think it'll work brilliantly!

My duck eggs were set on 22nd March, making today day 22. They have internally pipped, what on earth is going on? Temp is good in incubator. Not too high, set at 99.5F. Am switching them to hatcher, but aren't they ridiculously early? Was not expecting them for nearly a week. Anyone who has hatched ducks, please let me know if there is something really odd going on here. All were NOT started incubating before set, all were stored here for 2 days and candled before setting. What is going on???!

Mutts, entirely mutts. I asked what kind tey are and got told 'ducks'. So, I have no idea. Still seems like 4 days early for lockdown though, I was thinking for the last week these embryos look BIG, and tonight, wiggly beaks in the air cells. I give two of them 24 hours before they are out. Am putting humidity in hatcher to 75-80% this right? Never atched waterfowl before.

Yes, that's how I do it...but I have seen much more movement in ducks than chicks long before chicks- they may take longer to hatch than that.
