Out of the eggs I set I have a lot that were early quitters. All shipped ones too. All the cochins

Going into Lockdown:

22 out of 27 Black Sex Links (not counting the one that hatched a couple of days ago) - I dropped one of those, and 3 were clears,
7 out of 11 Dominiques - most of these did not develop past 10 days- most had detached air cells - sure 3 of them are fully developed.
0 out of 13 Cochins - Some of these were early quitters. Two clears, and all but 4 had major air cell issues.
0 out of 3 Silkies - from my pens. Just started laying - were not fertile yet.
12 out of 12 - Jumbo Brown Quail - also from my pens - did not candle
14 out of 14 button quail - did not candle.

55 out of 80 total eggs will go into lockdown.

My lockdown is not until Thursday since I set Sunday. But with so many peeps and a lot of movement in the BSL I am going to lockdown late tomorrow night. The quail should not lock down until Friday - late setting again - and they are in a different bator that I have never used before, so we will see how those go.

I'm glad you guys are having such good lock downs... I'll have 30 out of 120 staying for further confinement. All others have been released early for bad behaviour!

Here's hoping the ones that are left all keep up the good work and hatch out like good little chickens should!!

These birds are just amazing! What a fun experience. I am sure you were shocked to see the early arrival! He looks just great!

Extremely shocked. DS #5 says, dad I hear a chick in the incubator. It was zipping!

out of the turners into the cartons, upped the humidity and an hour later he was OUT OF THERE!

Not even a pip on any of the other 70 eggs.... I wasn't going to candle, but I didn't have time to do it anyway!

I'm expecting all of the eggs in my Brinsea to hatch out on Sunday because I figured out too late that the temps were too low.

I have had a few chicks hatch IN the Sportsman before I moved them into the hatcher. I know the shocking feeling! One time I was startled, because I thought I saw a mouse or something in there ...... it was a Silkie chick!

Anyway, what a fun story you have to share! Congratulations!
