My bulb burned out in the hatcher, so the temps dropped during lockdown. I had to take the eggs out to move them back to the incubator while I got a replacement bulb. I tried a bulb that turned out not to work, so after moving them back again to the hatcher, I had to move them AGAIN. Then I got exactly the right bulb, so after seeing that it really did fit and got the temps up I moved them back to the hatcher, just to discover that trying to adjust the temp with the lower wattage bulb had BROKEN the adjuster somehow and I can't get the bulb to go off now. SO BACK TO THE INCUBATOR THEY WENT AGAIN!!! I have a couple of pips, but I don't think I'm going to have a very successful hatch.
Usually most of my eggs in the past have hatched a day or 2 early, so I'm very discouraged that I don't have much going on in there by now. And my other hatches this year have been really great... I had high hopes for these eggs.
I'll soon know what's in the other; it's started to zip.
The thunderstorm keeps breaking my wirless connection; good news is my power is still on.
Split #2 is out and either a Light or Coro. Sussex.
I was either seeing a dark hole, or a pipped vein; not a black chick.
My earler report that all the Orps developed was obviously wrong; there were none in the box.
Every clear from you was marked Coro[not counting the 2 clear Marans eggs], all marked Split went to lockdown; I just assumed Split was a different breed and must be Orp splits. My bad.
Well then, you are probably gonna have some Coronations there! I have 1 pen of pure Coronations (obviously all non fertiles), and 1 pen of Light Sussex-split to Coronation with a Coronation rooster.
I will try to catch up on the 30 pages of posts I missed. Can't right now. Way too much going on. Just wanted to tell you all that my Black Aussie broody is hatching today and I've only got 2 pips in the incubator. Looks like they are waiting till tomorrow. Will post pics later.
Here is a short video of my broody. At the end you can see a little fuzzy head pop out.
REMEMBER, please PM me with your broody post # for submissions into the broody hatch contest. This thread is going so fast I just can't keep up. Link to broody pics page is in my siggy.
