Perfect name!!!

Well my hatch is almost complete. I have one chicky still trying to get out. I had decided to start checking eggs, and she is the last one alive in a shell.

The count is 11 (possibly 12) out of 36 chicken eggs. And 1 duckling out of 24 eggs.

On the chicken eggs 22 were clears/early quitters. Besides the hatchers, there was one ucky one that somehow got past me, and the rest were late quitters with no internal pips.

The ducks 10 clears and one blood ring. Of the 13 that went into lockdown 1 hatched, 1 internal pip, and the rest late quitters.

I have 3 kids fighting over the lone duckling.

In order to keep busy and not worry about the rest of the putative chicks in the 'bators, I relocated 3 call ducklings from their brooder to their own pen and coop, with a dishpan of water as well as an appropriate waterer for ducks and their feed. They are MUCH happier out there. My Cayuga drake has been hovering around their pen, watching them, coming over to bill my hands, going back to watch them, gabbling quietly to them.

Also moved a RIR, BR and Brown Leghorn chick to their own grow out coop and pen, and they're kinda shell-shocked. The BR came down the ramp to check out the pen, but the other two are still hiding up in the coop section.

Then I went to take pictures of the NYD TJ's White Leghorns up in the tree, where they like to roost a lot. They're really good looking birds. Their 'bator & brooder buddy, which I think is some sort of fuzzy-cheeked, dark pullet, is still part of that small flock within my whole flock. They range together, they roost in the trees together, they roost on my back porch at night together.

Angel and her six chicks are doing well in their coop & pen.

I have FOUR JG roosters, 2 splash, 1 blue and 1 black. Gorgeous fellows. Watched them stump around the back yard - they haven't ventured out into the front or side yards yet. They're too sex-crazed right now.

So, now I have a bunch of photos to edit and store, which should keep me busy for a time.

My broody hatched 6 chicks last Thursday. She had one egg that was a week behind that siomeone laid while she was off the nest so I put that one in the incubator. It hatched at 3:30 this morning. After work tonight I took it out to momma. I picjked up one of the older babies and had the newborn in my hand too. Showed them both to momma put them down and she scooped both under her. I keep checking and so far so good. She doesnt even notice its a new one.

LOL... they are sooo ugly and yet sooo cute. I love them when they are just hatched. When my family sees the showgirls, they think they are sick or got attacked
