Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

I'm getting eggs in later this week for another go as well. They were sent out today and will probably be here on Wednesday or Thursday, and I'm thinking I'll set them on Saturday. I'll see how things go at work and try to take that third Friday off in case they all hatch on day 20 again...

Anyhow, the Easter chicks moved into a bigger brooder today. I've got them in the bathroom and it was starting to stink!

They were also all try to flap and balance on everything, so they kept bashing into each other causing mini-riots. Here's hoping they'll do better in their bigger brooder with more room to spread their wings, so to speak

My cuckoo marans went broody, again, today. Guess she decided with the rainy weather coming she could sit again. This is the same one that gave up after only 2 days on a nest. I gave her 5 EExNN eggs. And my Jersey Giant, that fat behemoth, is currently on something like 16 eggs (I really, really don't want to know).

And I think I'm going to get some eggs in the mail in the next few weeks.

Chicken Math: The Final Frontier... sell 5 pullets and 2 roos and incubate 40 more eggs to replace them.

Not much, but the kids are in a battle royal for him....
