Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Chestnut..I know right..I think she went to find it. Don't they keep feeding them for a while out on branches. I thought that was sad too, she just kept standing there, looking into the nest. Or he..both the mom and dad feed their babies. Interesting how birds all do that snuggle down thing. Pretty cute.

We've just been eating it steamed, but I do have a great Broccoli Cheddar soup recipe. Next month I'm having surgery on my jaw, the periodonist basically said I would not be a happy camper for 3-4 days, the extra time depending on if they need to do the bone graft.

I am saving up all my cream soup recipes for a few days of no chewing!

Someone posted a cream of broccoli soup on the thread earlier... I saved the recipe... want it? (I'd be embarrassed if it were YOU who posted it)

Just got news that DH might be deploying again this sunday. They have to wait til tomorrow to be sure. I'm pretty mad. Because even if he isn't he is supposed to prepare like he is, so there goes my weekend. So we're going to see a movie tonight. If the little bugger isn't progressing much I may fiddle with him after we're back.

What branch is your husband in? I retired from the Navy last Janurary so just a little over a year ago after serving nearly 22 years. I know all about those deployments and it is just as hard on him I am sure so play nice please. I also know that the hardest job in the military is being the spouse of a member. You get to turn into mom and dad and keep everything together on the home front. Please tell you husband from me "Thank you for your service" because freedom isn't free it is paid for by those like your husband who serve in our stead.
Here is a pic of me in my Dress Blues a couple years ago.

Well said..and thank you, for your service! My DH has retired..Army.

At least I have a chance of catching up here, now that the hatching is done!

I brought my sick hen inside, and she is crawling with mites! For now, I just used DE, but need to buy something else (I want to avoid Sevin if possible). She has trouble keeping her head up, and one eye doesn't open all the way, so I don't know if she has some other sickness other than mites.
For now, she is living in a pet carrier on the dining room table, feasting on scrambled egg. She does look a little better than last night.

The tiny late hatcher Basque is still tiny and not eating as much as I'd like, but the chick is much more active now, so I have hope for him.

I love seeing everyone's chick photos!
