Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

It has begun!!!! No eggs yet, but I'll be setting them tonight. I have "mystery" eggs (meaning they can only be one of 2 things) that need hatching and I have plenty of time before the 17th to do it. And darn it, I plan to!
I'm seting eggs tonight to 11 to 12 white silkie eggs 12 if the one hen lays today 5 buff silkies and 1 mixed flock egg

I thnk maybe you should give the UPS brown eggs becaue I've seen a few UPS commercials ... they seem fixated on brown.

That would work.................I have family members (by marriage not blood) that won't eat brown eggs

I always think I should buy some eggs from the grocery store for them.

What a great idea! I just bookmarked the page. I love pie, but it seems like a big project when you have to make crust and all. I could see making these mini-pies for each fruit season and eating them all winter. Let's see, - in November we'll eat the strawberry rhubarb, December is peach, January we'll have raspberry, February is blueberry, in March we'll pull out the blackberry, and for April, apple. I need a bigger freezer! :D

My dad thinks I should just put all 10 eggs I collected today in the bator, but the problem is that if the hatch red I won't know who hatched from what. So I'm only going to set the 2 eggs I think came from my BA.

I'm in. I'm not sure what I'll be hatching, but I'll figure it out soon. Silkies for sure, either mine or someone else's if I can find them, and quail probably.

My brooders should be empty by then, and we can't have that now can we?

Kim,

I just cleaned mine out. I did a quick (15 min) cleaning of pulling all the eggs and trays out and giving a good cleaning. I HATE hatching in my incubator.

I have eggs that need to go in. I may wait until tomorrow.

WOW... I'm caught up and that didn't take long at all.

There are some crazy people out there folks. I don't want to get into the ENTIRE story... maybe someday when I'm not so upset about it.... BUT

Lilly had 3 pups.
.... in order of birth (born at 10:10, 10:40 and 11:10PM)
#1- Small black male, no tail, deformed back left leg.
#2- HUGE black male --- looks awesome, long black hair just like the other two
#3- black female...

DW did take Lilly to the vet this afternoon. ( It was hard for us to believe that she only had 3) The Dr. said she looked marvelous and she could tell the pups had been nursing. She got her shots updated... we just need to get an appointment to get her fixed! (and I was grateful for the relatively low cost of the visit)

And YES. Lilly was on the back porch last night giving birth and it was 40 degrees out there and YES we did have a dark red heat bulb above her (about 4 feet) for which I'm certain she and the pups were very grateful. We kept an eye on the thermometer and it was cool enough to keep her comfy and warm enough for the pups should they stray away... and YES she was in a big kidee pool that we purchased for them. The two normal pups look awesome.

I worked today from 7:30 with out one break until about 4:30.... and I'm double booked tomorrow. Probably a good thing.

Doesn't look like we've had any new sign ups, so I think I'm going to hit the sac. I truly am exhausted.
