I got ancy and set my broody on Sunday evening. So mine will hatch on about the 24th. It's supposed to be highs in the 50/60's and lows in the 30/40's for the next two weeks, so I figured now is the time to do it. Have a buff orp on 10 eggs. Can't wait till Sunday when i wil attempt to candle!!

Spring must be here. Getting up with the chickens will be easier ... for a while.

Ugh - another great opportunity to miss more sleep! Spring? We just got 2.5 feet of snow this last week. Anyone tell Mother Nature that its almost Spring?

I got my 1st mucky bum on a chick last night so I took someone (Renee I think) and put a lump of grass and dirt in the brooder no more or new mucky bottoms. The grass and dirt have vanished so I guess the chicks and Turkies tore it up. I'm going to put another one just to be safe.


Cool Pix. I should try some of those when we let the dog into the yards because that's when the chickens fly up the fence. (dog doesn't chase or bother them, they just don't like her in the yard, it;s the dogs yard they are the interlopers)

THanks for the reminder!!! THere has been so much coverage of the other state elections , that the local stations forget to promote our state elections.
