Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

"Allergy season" implies that the trees are starting to bud and that grass is growing.

Not a chance here. It's 11 degrees out right now. Snow tomorrow. Subzero on Sunday.

That'll clear your sinuses.

I have a question. On post 301 (page 31 on my settings), The Pigeon Kid posted a link to "eggs wanted for Mahonri's hatch" thread, saying to post here if you needed eggs. I commented, listing the many breeds I want, and now that page is off-limits, "Insufficient Permissions".
I hope this wasn't some private communication that I butt in on! I apologize if that is the case.

Deja Vu .............. to several months ago. 10..Yes... 10, 3 month old Pea chicks running loose in my living room. Felt like we were in the movie Juristic Park. You open the door and 10 tiny dinosaurs come running at you and pecking you.

Don't even want to remember the dust & poop.

Hello Everyone!!

We have 36 days until St. Patrick's Day

(aka Set Day for Chicken Eggs! Some of you may have looked at your calendars and said, "NotAFarm can't count. St. Patrick's Day is on a Saturday and this is the Easter Hatchalong. Easter is on a Sunday, three weeks earlier is Sunday, March 18th!" Well......in post #1, Mahonri stated we will be hatching the day before Easter. We want to enjoy the chicks, ducklings, keets, poults and

whatever they call newborn emus/quail/pigeons/pheasants (feel free to educate me

) on Easter Sunday! For those of you "nonstop hatchaholics", you have time to finish up your current hatch and get one more in before the set date. More than one if you're hatching quail!!

It looks like that thread is currently in "Staff Discussion" according to PigeonKids profile. It may have been posted in the wrong forum. 'Wanteds' for hatching eggs go in the Buy-Sell-Trade section under the Hatching Eggs forum. They may move it.... You can post here if you're looking for something....you never know who is reading this...well, sometimes you know because of the the little "tatttletale box" but those with Platinum memberships can "go invisible" sooooo you never know who is reading this!

Aaaah, I remember winter. . . I don't think we've had a hard freeze all "winter". Just 2 dustings of snow. I can't imagine what the mosquito, flea/tick and other undesirable insect population is going to be like this summer! I wish I lived in Maine

One of the great things about living in Alaska, it was -20 or colder for over4 weeks. We don't even have fleas, ticks, or most other bugs. We do have Mosquitos bigger than small aircraft, a healthy bee population and the prettiest dragon flies :)

Are the no-see-ums still gracing the stunted spruce bog lands up there? At one time the no-see-ums (in some locations) were the stuff legends are made of. And I'll bring it back to chickens by asking about mites. Do they irritate chickens in AK? Or at least your area.
