Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I have a question,...

for this contest:

Small Batch Best Hatch Rate
This contest is for those hatching less than 24 eggs - we don't want to punish those who have not caught the Big Batch Fever yet!
Hatch contestants may set up to 23 eggs. Post a picture on set day showing the number of eggs you have set and also fill out the hatching spreadsheet with that amount. These eggs may be under a broody or in an incubator. You must post your picture and your number in the spreadsheet by Monday, March 19th to be entered in the contest. When the hatch is over, post one picture showing clearly the number of chicks you hatched and fill out the spreadsheet. You must have your pictures and spreadsheet filled out by 3 days after hatch date. Best hatch rate wins! In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by random drawing.

Where am I supposed to post/enter? I did put a picture in this thread on set day...its somewhere buried in all these posts.

Look at post #1 there is one spreadsheet to fill out for all the numbers contests.

I'm in a flood watch today. Missouri is just a big rock with a little dirt scattered on top. Every time it rains there is a flood watch. That means my pens and runs are gonna be a muddy mess...... and my eggs are gonna be muddy too.

I imagine I won't be online much either, since we have satellite and it will likely be down.

Good morning all!
Mahonri, so glad your temps are settling down. I have been checking my styrobator often. It fluctuates between 98.8 and 100.1 so I am leaving it alone.
Someone posted about an LG being a tad high on temps, if you have your vent plugs in, take one out. It should take the temp down about a degree.
When I was getting my styrobator stabilized before the hatch, I did it with the turner motor on just in case that did add some heat.
Someone else posted about removing eggs and when. I am with the others, I don't remove anything before day 10 and if I am not sure about an egg, it stays in until lockdown (if it isn't dark, and looking like it is full with a chick at that point, it's not going to hatch) I have never had one explode on me. From what I understand, if you have a bad egg in there, you will be able to smell it. If you can smell a bad egg, you must figure out which one it is and get it out of the bator. Just because an egg doesn't develop, does not mean it is going to explode.
SCG glad you liked the pic, and that is "supposed" to be a cape, not a scarf. Best I could do with paint.

Good morning Kathy, at least you didn't wake up to this:

Thankfully there is not much and I am hoping that it will all be melted by this afternoon.

first egg I've had explode on me was my Ground Hogs Day Hatch.

It was day 22, I was doing eggtopsies... and I always open the unhatched egg from the top, first I poke a hole in the fat end and then.... KABOOM all over my face, me, my clothes and talk about STINK... I came real close to vomiting. I put it in a plastic bag, threw it in garbage, threw all my clothes in the washing machine and hit the shower. talk about yuk... and DW was not happy about the smell in the den....

but it didn't explode in the bator. Thank the good LORD.

(when I was a kid, on the farm, I got exploded on more than once) too bad I forgot those experiences until I got exploded on again February 3rd.
