Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

growing up as a kid in Utah, I always hated these late winter storms. The corrals would be a mucky mess.kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkklllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

and the above is what happens when you fall asleep while posting.

G'nite.

OH WOW!!! I fell asleep last night trying to catch up on posts! I was somewhere around pg 590 I think. Woke up with the imprint of comp keys on my cheeks and drool on the keyboard. And now there are 606 pgs!!!! I am thinking I may have to close the daycare today and just stay in my jammies and read posts. I'm sure nobody would mind!

Ooooh! And more exciting news!! I just now figured out where all the contests were!!! (Yes, I was a little slow on that one. But there were a gazzillion shiny things on that page! I was distracted!

Thanks for the morning laugh! Lol. But I'm sure at the time u didn't find it funny. I've been lucky and haven't encountered an exploding egg. But I usually don't open my eggs if they don't hatch. I'm not a chicken expert so I wouldn't know how to determine the reason some don't hatch. Well, I'm off to my morning coffee and the kiddos are starting to stir.

first egg I've had explode on me was my Ground Hogs Day Hatch.

It was day 22, I was doing eggtopsies... and I always open the unhatched egg from the top, first I poke a hole in the fat end and then.... KABOOM all over my face, me, my clothes and talk about STINK... I came real close to vomiting. I put it in a plastic bag, threw it in garbage, threw all my clothes in the washing machine and hit the shower. talk about yuk... and DW was not happy about the smell in the den....

but it didn't explode in the bator. Thank the good LORD.

(when I was a kid, on the farm, I got exploded on more than once) too bad I forgot those experiences until I got exploded on again February 3rd.

We have

days until Hatch Day!! There are more contests that have opened, so, check out the Contest Page (link in my sig line) to see what they are.......photos for all contests should be posted here on the thread and also PMed to the appropriate person. Check the contest descriptions for that information. Happy Hatching!

hi everyone well for over 12 hrs my incubators holding good at 100 degrees went to bed and woke up to incubator 2 at 102 so trying to adjust temp before leaving for work in a few min

I'm in the same boat, babigyrl! I have to leave THIS afternoon for Atlanta and will be back home late Tuesday night. I am taking the laptop with me but have to leave the eggs and bator at home with my boys (all 4 of my boys, even the old one.) I will have to depend on DS#1 (14 year old in the pic I posted earlier) to be my hands on the controls while I'm gone. I have given him explicit instructions not to do anything without my okay, and to call me if there is anything hinky going on with the temps or humidity. I have a pad next to the bator that I note date, time, temp, humidity, water added, eggs moved, etc. I hope they will write down something whenever they happen by for a look. That's all I can do....

Oh I am going to go nuts. I leave tomorrow morning to Bentonville, Arkansas (AND Amarillo, Texas) and am not back until midnight Wednesday. It's going to be a long two days. I have to rely on my DH to check the eggs for me. He is really going to be sick of me calling to check on them but I have no choice. Hopefully nothing changes with the humidity and the temp before I get back home.
