MN... doesn't Minnesota often call while you are sleeping? Mahonri's Nanny?

Nah, but Mother Nature often does.

Ok so finally I was able to retrieve the pics of my eggs when they got set! here they are so I can enter the contest for best hatch rate I doubt I will win with all the shipped ones but even those dont worry me as much as the Marans front and center, since the guy I got them from has been having fertility issues...we think we have fixed those issues but who knows and if not then I have MY roos for him! that WILL fix it...sooo we shall see. 190 eggs... two holes arent filled ...makes me nuts! arggggggg walked out yesterday and we have a broody EE! Go figure...so we might put some of these under her, will that still count,if we move some of the eggs to her? we have to make sure she is sitting tight first and doesn't "break" on the move out of the coop" so there are still some variables..Plus she is a first timer...Kari thought to give her the "mystery eggs" since we are keeping them all, wouldnt that be cute a huge jersey giant following her?

Awesome! The prizewould have to be a drawing or something because I really can't make anything cool like a crocketed chicken. I can just draw. The winner and 2nd and 3rd placers would tell me wht they want drawn. I can draw almost anything except people. I drew an awesome pea-cock in 1st period today. I can draw chickens but I make them look... cartoonish...

Cool ! Ok, you have the prizes. Now, what is the contest?

Well...I have an unpleasant experience to share.

In the last month since she finished her molt, my polish hen developed a nasty case of mites in her crest, and I brought her in to put some Ivermectin on her. I already had her in my hands, right?

Wrong. Always treat the chicken outside.

I dumped her drops of Ivermectin in her crest as I parted it to get to skin, and then let go to put the lid on while she placidly sat in my lap (she's one of the calmest, cuddliest chickens I have, and that's saying a lot, because mine are all teddy bears).

Then she shook.

I was covered in mites. They had begun running for the hills already and when she shook they went flying all over me...and my mudroom, I imagine.

I pitched her out the back door and ran for the shower.

I'm in a flood watch today. Missouri is just a big rock with a little dirt scattered on top. Every time it rains there is a flood watch. That means my pens and runs are gonna be a muddy mess...... and my eggs are gonna be muddy too.

I imagine I won't be online much either, since we have satellite and it will likely be down.

I'm looking forward to a little rain - need to fill my pond back up so the ducks will stop yelling at me. Suddenly the tank isn't good enough anymore

EEEEEWWWW! I found mites on a broody once and ever since I am ultra concious of the little tickles I get during and after chores

I always treat my poor broodies now, poor things.

Finally, there is a pic of my bator. The idea of me winning a best hatch rate would be awesome! But also fall down on the floor laughing hysterically.

yes toothbrushes are cheap! But so am I.
tongue2.gif
But really I should. If I leave the bathroom door open DS goes in and samples all the toothbrushes. I buy so many toothbrushes because he steals them and chews the crap out of them.

So I'm confused...Mahorni it does stand for mother nature? And you're telling us all? LOL

My eggs are finally on route! they were supposed to be here Sat and I didn't have any updates since the 15th but it appears they are in MA right now. Hopefully tomorrow!

OK! Here are my eggs for the small hatch contest thingy. There are 18 and I know some of them are Cochins, some are mixes, some are some treats I got from a fellow BYCer and all have me very excited to see what happens on my first ever hatch!

Edited because I know I am supposed to tell someone somewhere how many eggs I have set and I know there is a spreadsheet somewhere to put the number in, I think I even wrote it in when I first joined you all, and now I cannot figure it out to save my life!
