Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I've got my "First Day of Spring" eggs pipping now:) I got back late last night from spending 3 days at the hospital with my dad (complications with surgery) and missed setting the eggs up for hatching/lock down. They were in the auto turner this whole time.

This morning, I rushed to take them out of the turner and bump up the humidity for hatching. Now there's pips everywhere with tapping, rocking and peeping going on:)

There's 47 eggs due tonight/tomorrow and 12 eggs due April 4th/5th (kindergarten classroom hatch). I put the 12 eggs temporarily in an egg carton (in the bator of course) to keep them separate and clean while the first batch hatches.

It works out ok:) The eggs are mix of my Blue double laced Barnevelders, Cornevelders (most 93+% barnevelder blood) and Silver Pencilled Plymouth Rock eggs. I hoping to use the SPPR to start a Silver laced barnevelder project. Cheryl Cohen shipped me 17 and I only pulled 2!!! Boy is it crowded in my Genesis incubator!

Gosh, I would love to be able to grow sage and thyme ! I have a hard time with herbs. Most other things I can manage, so I just buy the fresh herbs. What are the tricks to growing herbs??

Five years ago I put in a 4" pot of sage, I now have to squeeze around a 3'x3' clump when I walk down that path of the yard. I think the only time I use it is when I roast a turkey.

Since 100s are watching this........... I am looking for Golden Lakenvelders. Does anyone have them or know someone, Please let me know. Thanks

Ooooooooooh, I'd love to add goldens too. I spent months finding silvers and am just adding them this week (if you don't count the one little deformed chick I hatched a week ago, Popeye)

Heya! I sold my flock last year to Ivywoods (Susie). She's still got them and can help you out! I had bred them from 3 different lines and they were wonderful!

I'd love to be "hooked up" with these as well! (sounds kind of like a drug deal)

How long can eggs stay in an incubator if they aren't good. I don't want any exploding eggs... but I don't want to throw out good eggs...
This has already been answered for you earlier in this thread, but I agree. If it doesn't stink and it's not weeping, I'd just leave it in.

I was covered in mites. They had begun running for the hills already and when she shook they went flying all over me...and my mudroom, I imagine.

Ewww, eww, eww. We had this problem at work. We had a terrible problem with pidgeons living and breeding on the window ledges. The office became overrun with mites. You'd find them all over the desks. I can't tell you how many times they had to spray. They did a serious defeat the pigeons campaign. It took ages before they were finally able to convince them to nest elsewhere.

I'm taking today off sick/mental health cuz I just couldn't go in today...
I've always called that a sick day, sick and tired of going to work!

The flash kind of "blew out" the color on the Ameraucana eggs in the first pic.......in the last pic they look "minty" and they are not.....
The four in the back left are the Isbar eggs......I'm so excited to see how they all do!!
