Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Finally caught up. Boy I am exhausted. I had called a lady about getting some hay delivered last Friday. She said she would call me back to let me know when they could deliver. I kept meaning to call her back since I hadn't heard from her. Yesterday afteroon I get a call from her, hey they are going to deliver today at 6pm is that OK? Ummm OK. Now I am thinking, get home around five, rush to get barn chores done and the spot for the hay tidied up (stack older hay to one side and rake cleared spot). Get all that done and it is a quarter past 6. OK they will probably get here soon. Rush in the house, hurry and eat dinner, clean up and still no one. It is now a quarter after seven. I call the lady, they are running behind but should be there soon. An hour goes by, she calls me back, they are just leaving a town north of me and will be there very soon. The guy gets lost trying to find the house (I don't think my road has made it to google maps yet) and finally pulls in to the drive at 9pm. Very nice gentleman, we unload and stack 50 bales and then he spends another 15 minutes trying to tie down the rest of his load. He gets done and off he goes. I get the barn closed up and it is now 10pm. I am sorely missing my two extra hours of sleep this morning. Thank goodness I don't have to do any major tasks at work today.

Wow! I'm exhausted reading this... Can't help but feel sorry for the driver of the rig, his night wasn't over yet. Hope you have a good day!

At what temperature/humidity do you incubate those at?

I think they incubate at 98.6f, and 90+ rh.... Will

Fred was really diggin' in, too.......

And lounge around; demanding Fred be by her side.........

Like all good men, he does as she requests and stands by her side.......

Last night I got distracted and forgot to lock the chickens up for the night. So this morning I send my 10 year old DS out there just before sunrise to lock them up real quick before they wake up for the day. He goes running over and there was a SKUNK drinking the chickens water.

My DS stops short and back peddles just in time to miss getting sprayed! He comes running in the house to tell me there is a skunk in the chicken coop! So I get my shoes and coat on and go tiptoeing over there (Shear Genius I know!) and peek in the coop. I turn on the light and while it stinks to high heaven, the skunk is no where to be seen, so I turn of the light and shut the coop up. Luckily no one got sprayed (that would have been terrible considering we were just getting ready to leave for school). Then I had to come in and tell the DH that I almost got the chickies killed.

That reminds me, I need to go set the trap! We caught 5 of those darn skunks last year. I don't know how make them under stand this is NOT THEIR HOME!

Ugg, we have a family of skunks or two that I'm constantly running in to in the barn when I do chores - It's hard to tell them from the cats sometimes! They seem to ignor the chickens, but I don't take chances if I can help it.

Playing around with visio in preparation for my certification. Barn chores spaghetti diagram before the Polaris.

Mine would look ver similar - not very efficient but I call it exercise

That is how I started! Half cream and sugar!! Then one summer I worked for Maintenance--only gal--and no cream and no sugar. Black coffee only. I tried, looked tough, took a few sips. Choked down half a cup. Dumped the rest as we headed out to work. My stomach roiled. Yuck. Cream doesn' mess up my blood sugar so I use half and half or heavy cream. No cremora which is a heart attack promoter. And I have learned to drink my green tea without sugar. I'm 50 and shooting for 100, I want to enjoy my kids for a few more years!!!

LOL, I need some flavor in my coffee too - my favorite is Bailey's Irish Cream

Oh my goodness dd, talk about running later than a little behind! Have your gotten your hay from them before?
And, chuckling here, because I've met you and I know how you are... so when you say, "nice gentleman", that just reminds me of what a nice person you are. You didn't even give him heck for first, taking so long to get it there, then second, taking a while before he can leave to leave. I have a son as a truck driver, and know, it takes them time to get things done with the truck before they can leave. You are a good person.

Thank you Cynthia.

I didn't have the heart to give him a hard time. This was the first time I got a delivery from them but he was hauling it in from Wyoming, had to go slow through the passes because of winds, I was his second delivery of the evening and he was alone so I don't know if he had help unloading and stacking the first load. I also have a suspicion the people he was delivering to before me were an older couple who I ran across this past weekend at Cal Ranch. They were looking for hay and I had given them the name and number for these people. He really was nice, and we got the hay unloaded and stacked pretty quickly. I didn't want to rush him tying down the rest of his load because I knew he still had to drive back to Draper and that is (drum roll please

) about an hour away.

And I know why she wants my beautiful wheaten ameraucana cockerel so badly! I've decided to let her have him. He looks a lot like her Versache and Versache is just getting too old to get the job done.

Well don't make the mistake of thinking the one in Reno will be just as good. It used to be but it has really gone downhill lately!

I'm not a coffee drinker either. Just don't like it! I do drink tea but it's usually herbal tea since I am hyper enough without caffiene. I hate the taste of alcohol too. I can stand it if it tastes sweet and has almost no alcohol in it but as most bartenders have said "why bother then?". I used to perform in clubs and folks were always wanting to buy me drinks. Imagine their disappointment when they ask what I'm drinking and I reply "hot water".

Hey, warm water is a singer's best friend!

I thought when I got older that I would learn to like wine, or some kinds of alcohol anyway, but my palate never matured.

Now here is what you can do if you think about how you are going about things and try to do it a little smarter.

I know it says future but this is actually how I do things now and the first diagram I posted was how I used to do things.
