Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Lots of pips, one zipping and zero chicks so far here. Gotta get the brooder warmed up... boyfriend finished the cold frame pieces this morning so when I went downstairs to grab the brooder light I got sidetracked with painting.

Just remembered I left the paint gallon open too... good thing I posted.

Dementia... I've got it.

Get brooder warmed up, oh yeah gotta paint OH LOOK...........A CHICKEN! Hey SCG, did you stop and play with the pink sponges too?

Went outside to go gather some eggs so they don't freeze today and saw Mr. Cogburn and Whitey doing this:

I just can't figure out what those two crazy kids were up to. Both of them seemed perfectly happy to be like this.

FatOne used to do that with the turken roo I had. Both those two were in love. I ended up processing the turken when FatOne was broody. She didn't remember him, luckily.

Attention wolftracks!!!! I have a chick and it came from a purple egg! Only thing I have at the moment so hoping I didn't fry all it's siblings! But now that I have 1 I don't feel as if all is lost.

What color is the chick?

Oh and what color is the inside of the egg??

I have my first zipping egg. It is one of my Ameraucana eggs. It looks like it might be a splash! I am so stoked!

Well I have 4 eggs on day 20, they are the last hope for a semi-successful hatch lol. I already have 1 pip

, the last 4 eggs are out of my hens and I'm so excited to see what they look like! I'm not too worried though because my 2 silkies and my little cochin are giving me 12 eggs a week to incubate, with a couple set back to eat. I have yet to crack open one of their eggs and it not be fertile, I'm so proud of my little Frizzle Roo.

Came home from town to a fuzzybutt in the incubator! I know that as soon as I leave the area, those chicks think its the best time to come out.... darnit!!!

...I will have to post a picture though. Because I have no clue what it is!
