Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

These are the pictures of the 60 Silver Gray Dorkning eggs I set yesterday. The first picture is of the new sytle Genesis 1588. There is a new control center that has temp and humidity displayed, along with the set temperature. Set temp can be changed from this display. You hold the up or down arrow for 5 seconds and the set temp goes up or down by tenth degrees.

First tip: remove the plug
Second tip: keep humidity above 20% but less than 30%. The new Genisis has better control of this with a smaller deep water holder in the bottom.
Third tip: Use a Water Weasel

I will try out other tips later.

You are killing me with these pictures! I love my old Genesis, and now I am dying for the new one! I love the temp control! I have been considering messing with my temps to try to turn it down by half a degree because it always ends up running around 100.1 according to my Brinsea thermometer (with the probe in a wiggler just like yours with little plastic fish). I had a 10:7 cockerel-to-pullet ratio last year, and I would like to swing those odds in the other direction! Hmm...

You could try begging

or try logic, "Dad, You know all 2 dozen of those RIR aren't going to hatch so the EEs will just make up for the percentage that doesn't hatch!"

Could you use hand warmers in an emergency? They stay hot for 7 hours and a package is not too expensive for emergencies.

I set 60 Dorkng eggs yesterday. I am trying some of the secrets on here. I will post some pictures in a day or do.
Yes. The hand warmers are essentially the same thing as the heat packs made for shipping chicks and reptiles. The hand warmers have a shorter life Spanish (7 hours vs 72 hours) and different models have higher or lower temps.
