Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Good Morning!

NotAFarm- Its snowing up here, it looks like that the snow must have liked us Michiganers better than IL.

I am setting one more batch of eggs today before Easter hatch- 42 eggs. 35 Icelandics and 7 Tomaru Longcrowers. :D

Daron and all,

We're supposed to get that snow that someone posted a few posts back. Nothing yet and that's too bad it's coming because a lot of our snow has melted. Sky's a gorgeous coral color this morning. It's a beautiful morning, so far.

I had my incubator unplug for the Valentines Day Hatch... it was both incubator and turner, actually. I woke up to a 70 degree incubator and it was sweaty from all the humidity. It was probably unplugged for at least 12 if not 24 hrs. I persevered (by plugging it back in) and am completely amazed but I won BEST HATCH RATE... seriously. I've also had hens off their nests in the middle of winter, and the eggs stone cold as it was sub-freezing weather, and when I found her I just plopped her back on the right nest, and I had 3/4 hatch then. So don't give up on your eggs, I always have thought that low temps are better than high, and we've certainly seen some temp spikes that had decent hatches within Mahonri's hatches the past few years.
