Well, yeah, I do know a out the income and tax part. My sister lives in San Rafael, and she bought a trailer for $100,000!!! (She calls it a mobile home). And the worst part is, she must pay monthly rent on the land it sits on (she doesn't own that). My other sister is in Alaska, so we're about as spread out as you can get!California has seasons! It all depends on where you live. If you want permanent spring you live on the coast. If you like summer you live in the valley and if you want all of the seasons in one year you live in the foothills on up to the mountains - depending on how much snow you want to shovel. This is one of the few places you can surf the waves and ski the slopes in one day. But if you do come, you need to bring your own source of income and lots of tax repellant.
and dsqard, I hear ya' on the Stockton thingy. When we lived in Utah, the first time I heard Stockton mentioned on the news there I was trying to figure out why they were talking about some small happening which occurred in Stockton, California.
