Anyone familiar with showgirls? Are they supposed to be super small?

This is PigPen, who was born during Mahonri's New Years Hatch... so (s)he's 8 weeks old. She's the same age as her litter mates, the speckled sussex. It's like the showgirls just aren't growing anymore. They're on 22% protein crumbles.

I'm actually thinking about just putting the SS out in the coop (I was hoping to keep them a family) and put these guys in with my two week olds. Any thoughts?

could the feathers around the vent be blocking him from getting the fertility in to the hen???? I ask because my Cochin rooster had this problem and when I plucked the feathers round the vent BOOM!!!!!!!!!! EGGS FERTILE THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!!!!

I contacted the Breeder and let her know about this!

Her SG Dorking Rooster won an award at an Heritage show last year. Still needs some work, but a very nice Rooster

the color does fade, and my hens were leghorns, so i am assuming those that normally hatch yellow would be best for accepting the dye. i found the link in the valentines hatch thread, starting around page 5 there are some good posts about dyeing eggs. i will see if the post comes through if i try to copy it here.

I bookmarked that link. There was a lot of intersting info when I scrolled through the pages.

My last batch will hatch in time to get the last bator cleaned and ready to go. That is if DH don't get the cabinet built and tested before-hand. I had 5 chicks hatch sunday while I was at a meeting and I had to cull the last one so I have 4 of those left, 1 sizzle and 3 oe/jap mix. I have 3 more in the hatcher then some quail and more chickens and I'll get ready for our big hatch along. I'm still not sure what breeds i'll have because i've joined in on the march egg swap.
