Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

How ya feelin? Getting any rest?
II ow about the skin so soft, and it works good, but I had no idea about the vanilla. That one just surprised me.
We don't have fleas in AK, but in Washington I used 20 mule team borax, the laundry additive, according to my vet it is the same active ingredient the commercial sprayers use. Kills fleas and their eggs and without all the other junk mixed with it it's safe even for babies to crawl on. I sprinkled it on the furniture, carpets and dog beds, let it sit while I scrubbed bathroom and did all the rest of the cleaning (about an hour) then I vacuum last thing, never had a flea in my house. And my dogs and cats had the residual gas on their coats so when they went outside, the fleas didn't even jump on them.
A box treated my 2400 sq ft house for a month or more, $3.27 a month and no harmful drugs. SCORE!!!

I love that stuff too. Matter of fact I'm going to give homemade laundry detergent a shot and it's one of the ingredience. I have a really dark green carpet and I'd use it on it, but don't know if it would work on something this dark without bleaching it out.

Note! Dark carpets NEVER look clean. Second house with the exact same color. Everything shows on it.

Rest? I wish. I'm so tired right now, but think I did to much my first day and I hurt. But if I take even half a pain pill, I won't be up till noon. Not good.

Make sure to swing down through Alabama, I'll take you to Dreamland for a slab of ribs and sweet tea! I will even make a homemade banana pudding! And I promise not to push any roos on you (unless you really want them!)

YUM!!! Now we all want to come to your house!

What a great idea for a trip Linda! I've met a lot of BYCers and liked everyone of them (so far anyway)!

You just need a big flatbed trailer that you can build a huge coop on, then you can take the kids with you everywhere you go! You are more than welcome up here north of Reno. We'll invite a bunch of local BYCers over for you to meet. It'll be a blast!

Thanks for the correct pronunciation , now I know what to yell when I raise my fist to the heavens,as my incubator becomes full, and I consider buying a Brinsea incubator.

Tonya, I moved you back out from sea. I have no idea what part of Kansas I put you in, but wherever I put you had to be closer to home than the middle of the Atlantic.

I'll be setting two 6-packs of swap eggs and a dozen (I think) from MrHeinz77 that I won from the VD Hatch. That should fill up my 24-egg capacity Brinsea Octagon Eco 20, which I can normally squeeze ~30 eggs into if I don't use the dividers.

I'm also getting intensely itchy for Spring... look what's coming!

I've decided I am going to make a trip out of meeting BYCers after I have retired. I think that would be a great vacation trip!

(Psssst: I retire in just under six months.)

Good morning all..........

I am looking for any cleaning tips for my Genesis 1588. I just got it a few weeks ago to catch the overflow from the cabinet and use as hatcher. So hatched my first batch of chicks in it yesterday, took the plastic tray out and gently washed it, I am afraid to break it and a pain in the butt to clean the water chambers.... I used a bottle brush.
Are any of you putting something down over the screen to help prevent the sludge in the water chambers ?
Any advice is appreciated.... I have the Brinsea ECO 20, I use that to hatch in and it is so simple to clean, just does not hold enough eggs.

At first, Mahonri reminded me of the angel at the bottom of Joseph Smith's bed. But I looked that up and that's Moroni. Close depending. So I looked up Mahonri, and lo and behold, Mahonri is Jared's brother, which is much easier to think through than Mahonri. Actually, easier to remember than Jared's brother is dentist-lots of sons/daughters-pool-garden-no drinking-puppies-chicken-lovin'-thrower of annual hatch-a-longs.

You forget injury-prone mountain hiker!............and I believe he has 6 sons and only 1 daughter (I bet she is spoiled rotten too!)

Good to see you're still here Mahonri. I've never incubated before, but I'm thinking about maybe sorta doing it for some of the rarer breeds I like that are hard to get full grown. What do y'all think? Of course, I'd need an incubator...
