Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Good morning all..........

I am looking for any cleaning tips for my Genesis 1588. I just got it a few weeks ago to catch the overflow from the cabinet and use as hatcher. So hatched my first batch of chicks in it yesterday, took the plastic tray out and gently washed it, I am afraid to break it and a pain in the butt to clean the water chambers.... I used a bottle brush.
Are any of you putting something down over the screen to help prevent the sludge in the water chambers ?
Any advice is appreciated.... I have the Brinsea ECO 20, I use that to hatch in and it is so simple to clean, just does not hold enough eggs.

I soak mine in hot water with Oxy Clean and a little dish soap, then gently scrub it with a paper towel. I disinfect after with Accel-TB, a peroxide-based disinfectant that is effective against pretty much everything (killing TB is considered the gold standard for disinfectants). Since it is perixide based, it is completely safe and has no dangerous residue or withdrawal time. It comes in a very convenient wipe, as well as a solution.

Maw-hawn-rye ... there... does everyone have it straight?

FYI, my name is pronounced "LARRY"...yes, I know Laree is spelled phonetically incorrect. I didn't make it up, I got stuck with it.

I only bring this up, because Alohachickens laughed and laaauughed when we were discussing sending eggs to KS with notinoz. Which I, being from Arizona, read it as "NoteenOHZ".

It never occurred to me that notinoz, being from Kansas, was Not In OZ.

Laree, My daughter-in-law's name is Letticia. Her family calls her Letty, pronounced Le-TEE, but during her school years, all her teachers and classmates pronounced her name, Leady. This was pointed out to me by one of her brothers shortly after making the mistake myself. It's made me more aware of listening to how someone pronouces their own names when they introduce themselves. That is the problem with just reading it here, no pronounciation help. Thanks for letting us know your pronouciation!! If I ever get to AZ, I wouldn't want to embarass myself!!

Okay, I'll probably embarass myself anyway, but it won't be saying your name wrong!

You wouldn't need to be embarrassed. Laree is spelled wrong. People say my real name wrong all the time too. Larissa, Lahryzza, Ladeesah, Marissa. Alyssa, Clarissa, Melissa, etc.

And I feel for Letty. High-five to her...

Me too!

When I was a kid, I used to tell people I had 13 middle names. I also used to tell them my mother was Vietnamese, which REALLY confused them.

...She's not by the way, my mom's Polish.

Ha. You are funny, Larry. (I'm practicing the proper pronunciation.)

Does this photo scare anyone else? (Sorry for the repost, but it's 3 pages back and goofed up because I forgot how to copy photos the new way.)
