Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Love it!!

You sure did catch up.

Yes a smaller one. They asked if I wanted the same one or this one. Silly people. Granted I've hurt it more since, but I can kind of tie a show now. LOL

Glad you have a smaller one. DOn't forget your extra calcium and Vit D to help the mending. My last break healed in 3 weeks. Not saying all mend this quickly . . . certainly my first one didn't.

Silly question here. I had to set my guinea eggs last night. They came yesterday so I really had no choice. I will be setting eggs on the 17th for the hatch along but it will look like I've got a whole lot more than what is really in the hatch. Is this ok? This is my first hatchalong so I really don't want to mess up. If the income tax comes in I'll be getting a new incubator so it won't matter, but I don't know if that's going to happen. Just want to make sure I don't need to remove myself from the contests.

Time to go to work.

I need a plumber for the valves in my master bath. I'm afraid it's going to be an expensive mess.

It seems there is always something.

ok I am getting some chicks at TSC tomorrow and they have Black Australorp and Barred Rock chicks. so here is my Q, of the two breeds here which one is the better one for laying eggs and meat??? oh, and which one is more friendly?? I do not keep mean roosters

I have Australorps and they are big, gentle birds. Both of the BA Roos I've owned have been docile and nice. The hens lay HUGE XL-Jumbo eggs. Cute black & yellow chicks too!

Hey michelle, what are your icelands like??? I hope I spelled right

The are colorful, no two look the same, all colors, shapes and sizes. They are excellent foragers, some are more friendly than others because they are much more predator savvy than other chickens. My main roo Kelinn, he was a cuddly thing when he was in the brooder, often flying out of the brooder to land on me, but when he moved outside he became so wary he could barely be caught. Now that he's a year old he will come up so I can stroke his back while I'm handing out treats, but he shares all his treats with his girls, and if I pick him up he won't fight it but isn't "cuddly" anymore.

They are excellent foragers, and free range far and wide, they are excellent flyers, they love to roost up high, and they are super fun to watch. I just love them!
