I managed to talk some eggs out of my mom, she is pretty attached to her breakfast.

Thanks Notafarm! I don't know how to multi-quote so I just had to add them all together lol.

No such thing. Unwanted chickens = dinner

I was just trying to talk to my husband into getting some meat birds... but I've never processed my own chickens, or seen it done so I don't know that I could make myself eat my first hatch.

Congrats! Now send some of that luck my way please. I have 1 Coronation Sussex and 1 Light Sussex egg left out of 10 in my hatch that is due this Friday. The PO was not kind to them at all - 8 of the 10 had detached air cells. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will actually hatch.

~~~~~sending good thought your way~~~~~~~~~~~~
that was the only Coronation egg in that batch. I just have a pair and the pullet started laying about 5 weeks ago. I have 2 I think in the batch currently in the hatcher due on Friday
I have 12 dogs.......all in the house. 3 English Shepherds, 4 Shih Tzus, 1 Poodle, 2 Shih-Poos, 1 Brussels Griffon & a Chihuahua. We have the same bathroom issues. Just pray I'm not in a rush to get there, I trip over them.
I know the the feeling, I only have one dog ,but she is old and arthritic and moves slow in the house ( but not outside, go figure) and 4 cats that my DH has "taught" to play the walk very slowly in front of people and trip them up. He doesn't need to move as quickly to the bathroom as middle aged woman who is on a directic for blod pressure
Ditto here... and one of the cats is super freaky and will sit on the edge of the tub and stare at you while you're bathing. Creeps me out. If you stick your toes out of the tub he'll lick them too. And if you close and lock the door it's just scratching, pushing and whining. No peace here.
My largest cat ALWAYS has to come in and have his neck scratch before getting drink from the sink and the tub is just the biggest, bestest bowl of favored warmed water around.
We are getting a record high tomorrow! That means I race around at 11am like an idiot taking blankets off horses, seeing all have extra water, setting up shade . . . . . spring is the hardest transition on the animals after a cold winter . . . and no shady trees to hide under yet like late spring. Ahhhhh, the fun of farm animals.
I feel your pain too cold in the early morning and too hot by afternoon.
for your viewing entertainment.......
Alway the cutest chick pictures.
Last year was my "Blue" period, I tried so hard to get chickens with blue feathers and chickens that laid blue eggs.
The first blue eggs I got didn't develope.
The next batch hatched and I sold all but 4 thinking they would grow and reproduce.
Then I got eggs that should have had blue chickens in them, nope! I did get the most spectacular blue laced red rooster that was meaner than a wounded bear
But I don't do mean around here so he became dinner
The chickens from the blue eggs turned out to be 3 roos (not much egg layin going on there) and a hen. My poor bluey was killed by my ex's dog (who has since been shipped to the ex) but she left me one last blue egg minutes before her demise. I plunked that sucker in the bator and got the prettiest little bird, her daddy is either my black silkie or the silkie/cochin. Anyway, she's jet black and lays a nice green egg.
This hatch is already dedicated to my Icelandics. seeing that cute little lavender beauty made me start thinking, I might have to start looking for something blue again
Well, we got the pool filter "fixed" it was new and leaking... but the guy really knew what he was doing and it was under warranty.
Then a fellow BYCer, AZ Kat came by and took home 4 Icelandic and 4 or 5 Wheaten Ameraucana roos.
Bought a birthday gift for my brother.... delivered it and then heaed for the feed stores... went to THREE and wouldn't you know it, I came home with chickens.
I probably should see a shrink.
They had a JG there...4 months old that was just HUGE.
At 4 months, she makes my big SLW look small! So I brought it home with a couple of month old polish (One red crested partridge and one blue&white crested blue) that I'm praying are pullets.
Got 8 eggs today.
