Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Mahonri, those burns sound atrocious...are you afraid of the hospital? You should have gone! But the meds must be working because you 'sound' much better.

everyone..I may have spent over an hour catching up, but thanks for all the laughs.

And finally, whats a basque chicken? I googled it and this is what I found.

And many variations of this. Somehow I don't think you guys are sending eachother cooked chicken. But then again, maybe its easier to send cooked food than a recipe???

Turns out, I received two shipments of eggs that are both being replaced due to shipping issues. Now the replacement eggs will not be here until next Wednesday.

On another note though, I may have to post tetris pics by the weekend, I have two bators (LG and one similar) and due to an abundance of extras (someone actually sent me 2 dozen extras, putting me at 48 instead of 24) and then replacements because of crushed boxes (of which some were salvageable), I am looking at bator space for 100 if I'm lucky but closer to 175 eggs. HELP

You better run out and buy another bator (or two)!

I keep telling my husband that he needs to join and star a thread along the lines of, "Support group for spouses of poultry addicts" I can just see the posts... DW has left me for Mahonri again... Or we're spending our date night on the Oklahoma thread.... Or my favorite... My wife just put something kind of like a kiwi in the bator... Anyone know what that is?

Sadly enough thats probably whats going to happen. DH is already griping about the amount of chicks we are going to have, nut thats all just part of the fun. I will be pulling out my smaller bators tomorrow and possibly buying another big one or two or three.... Oh, the madness has begun.

My DH keeps threatning to hide my bators (eggs and all), but then if I loose a chick or an egg, he starts with " if you would have just done such-and-such you may could have saved it." Of course then it is my turn to give him a look.

DH swears he hates the hatching and the chickies, and the dust, and the poop...but after my first successful hatch and the chicks were downstairs in the basement in the brooder, they knocked over their water container and he comes running upstairs and yells get some towels and heating pad and runs back down. I dont' know whats going on I freak out and go down there and he has 20 something chicks in his arms and they are soaking wet and shivering. Some of them were flopped over and stiff and barely breathing, a few were just a little cold. DS was 3 months old at the time and screaming upstairs, and DH tells me to take care of my son and he'll take care of my chicks. He has the better ones sitting on the heating pad, the bad ones in his shirt against his skin and the ones I thought were goners for sure in his hands he sits there for over an hour blowing hot air into his hands. Every single one survived. Soooo...I'm thinking he doesn't hate them as much as he says he does.
