So cute!

Bourbon Red though because you could have Bronze turkeys I've been marking mine RB..my Bourbons seem to be good travelers and by Easter will be laying very good or I'll have some mixes and personally think those are much cooler. I have a Blue penciled turkey that is really cool looking that I'm going to cross with Auburns and Midget Whites the color possibilities are endless

I want in on hatching turkeys! I use to have them, but had to cull them to MG.

This was one of my Bourbon Red Toms-

You all are killing me! I decided guineas are probably not for me but turkeys . . . I could probably convince the husband. Went on a little jaunt this morning to pick some Wyandotte eggs from colby318 (her birds are beautiful!) for the hatch-a-long. On the way back home I passed a flock of about a dozen turkey hens - I noticed them because there was a very proud and very gorgeous and very LARGE male strutting his stuff for them! First time I have ever seen a wild one "displaying" like that. It was an awesome sight. I stopped the truck to try to get a pic on my phone but, of course, they all took off and were gone lickety split. I would mind having one of those strolling across the lawn.

You can have the hordes of them out of my yard. They eat EVERYTHING!!! At least, everything the deer leave!

When I go to the nursery and discuss plants, they ask if I want something deer resistant. I say no, I want something they will eat, choke to death and die.

There is almost nothing I can plant that doesn't get eaten unless it's fenced behind a VERY tall fence. They don't seem to like daffodils or zinnas. Most things are fair game to the deer and turkeys.

Okay, wildlife rant over!

Okay, that is just my frustration. I actually love to see them..................in my neighbor's yards.

I want guineas so bad! Hubby on the other hand not so much... We had a couple of calves and didn't have any chickens in the coop so we used it as feed storage. Well one evening hubby and my 6 year old son stroll out there to feed and both of them were chased out of the coop by a guinea squawking and flapping. (really I think it was running also, they just happened to be in front of it) They refused to feed from then on unless we moved the feed, so I fed and just stepped out of the way of the door as it went by instead of standing in it screaming like a school girl. The guinea wasn't even ours lol. It and 1 other always made an appearance on their way through our place twice a day. Something happened to 1 of them, I guess a dog got it

, and the other guinea decided our place was as good as any. So fed it and let it stay, but all the doors were open so it could leave at any time. It eventually disappeared, but now a year later hubby and my son are still on the look out for stray guineas.

Maybe I'll have to order some eggs and get some "mystery" eggs that just so happen to be guineas... how was I to know? lol
