Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

With a Brinsea Oct.20, I don't trust what it says on top, I had some bad hatches because I did.

Get a spot check thermometer and put it through the hole.

To keep mine at 99.5 degrees I have to set it on top for 100.7. I had a couple of hatches where less than 25% hatched because the temp ended up being too low.

GOOD LUCK!

X2 the first time I hatched, I trusted the temp on the top of the Brinsea. It might be that warm up there but it is cooler down by the eggs. My chicks started hatching late and took days to hatch. Second time I had the Spot Check and it was much better since you can get the probe down at egg level.

There are differing opinions. I've had some decent success, just putting them right in the bator.

Others who are a tad more experienced than me say to give them two days resting in the bator and then plugging in the turner.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I am splitting the difference. I put Renee's eggs in after resting only a couple of hours (air cells looked just fine when I candled) and I am going to plug in the turner for that bator tomorrow. Like Kathy says, either they will hatch or they won't.

I am in by accident. Just happened to be ready to set the incubator today. I made big mistakes on my enrollment so I made another one. I hope that is ok. I didn't know how to do anything else. if you will you can take my first one off and leave the second one. Sorry I wasn't reading anything right.

How many are we up to now Mahonri?

Oh no! Can anyone else report this as a personal experience? I don't want that to happen to one of mine!

Wisher breathe just a little.

I can't report this as a personal experience of mine but I have heard of it before. In fact the turner that came with my styrobator doesn't let you put an egg in the slot next to the turning motor. It is blocked off so I am assuming this is part of the reason. Just stack the egg that is near the motor somewhere on top. You are going to be OK. We just set today. It won't hurt to quickly tilt the top up, move the egg and close it back up.

Finally caught up! I forgot to take a pic when I set them, so will do that tomorrow. I have a full turner! I did see a couple pics where people still have space in their gators, they must be late joiners and weren't effected by the enablers.
