Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Is that a fridge turned bator? Lots of gadgets on top. How successful are ur hatches?
By the time I would come up with something like that I might as well spend out the money on the real deal. But looks like a fun project.

Here are my pics, missing one egg for my 51 will add it in the morning from one of my EE's and mark it appropriately for hatch day.

41 in here.....

the 9 under my broody. She wasn't happy when I picked her up for this pic.

I have been trying to get pictures to load but for some reason they won't. I set 48 eggs today at noon. I am just now able to get this posted. I will keep trying to figure out why they won't load, I did not have a problem til the forum was switched to this one.

Ok, finally....here it is, almost all of my eggs. The last 12+ will not be here until Monday.

They are:
2 Ameraucana
3 Bantam Ameraucana
2 BBS Orpington
1 BLR Wyandotte
8 Frizzle Polish
5 Blue Polish
12 Gamebirds
36 Show girls
2 Gold-Lace Cochin
6 Barnevelders
4 Barred Rock
4 Bantam Wyandottes
3 Silkies
7 Sizzles
19 D'Uccles
7 D'Anvers
10 Grab-bag Eggs
4 Grab-bag Bantams
20 Easter Eggers & Olive Eggers

FINAL COUNT: 153 (still waiting on 12+)

Disregard the 6 Duck eggs and 4 of the LF Chicken eggs in pic # 1, they are hatching this coming week and next week)

The eggs are all set here.

18 shipped AM's
12 shipped Marans
3 of my Blue Slates
10 shipped AM's
38 of my Icelandics

That's 81 eggs, and without the turner I didn't have to stack. Since the majority are shipped I will turn by hand so the shipped eggs can just rest. I have three thermometers in there, two of which are also hygrometers.

I have just the central chamber filled with water. I'm going to read Renee's dry hatch directions but our relative humidity is only 16% which I think is less than optimal so I will keep water in just the smallest chamber for now.

One of the thermometers goes to a reader in the house so I can check the temp/humidity from the kitchen.

Now the question is, which will come first, the chicks hatching or the snow going?

on the black theermomiter is it accurate i have one just like that in my incubators plus one like the white one are the reading the same temp or not which one do u use for the temp

got my eggs loaded in the bator. oops bators Swore up and down wouldn't hatch again til summer ha Ha

ok one last question the 2 thermomiters on top read 100 degrees and my digital ones read 97 they are sitting on the rack but the top of the digital sits above the eggs so i should go by the mercery thermomiters on the top of the eggs or digital i can not get any of them to say the same thing and its nice and toasty in there i can touch the screws on the outside of the bator and they are really hot

My advice......

You all just added your eggs to your preset incubators. Now is not the time to be messing around with the controls. Leave it alone for at least 24 hours. You should not be making adjustments just yet.
