We caught 5 of those darn skunks last year. I don't know how make them under stand this is NOT THEIR HOME!

What, exactly, is the procedure for getting rid of a skunk that has been caught in a trap? Oh, wait, are you using a live trap or something more permanant?

Spent a good part of both yeaterday and today dealing with the USPS. I mailed two carton of eggs on Sataurday. One went MIA and the other arrived earlier than expected but totally destroyed. SO much for paying for tracking!!

First package left the post office and disappeared into thin air. Contacted the phone number on the tracking paper and had to call back during open hours. Only to have the person tell me what I could already see on the website . Did get a number to cal for Customer Affairs. Called CA today, very nice woman, will work on this tomorrow. TOMORROW!!!

Earlier today I received an email : the eggs had arrived at the second destination, the eggs were literally scrambled and the box looked destroyed from the photo (waiting verbal confirmation ). I resent another box of eggs. I'm on the look out of a better quality box than the USPS priority box. Seems like this box cannot withstand what the USPS throws at it. OR rather, it cannot withstand the abuse when USPS throws it!

The MN package has not arrived, and still MIA. I told her I would replace the eggs, what else can I do. I've lost a bit of money and time on this and I hope the USPS will reimburse at least the postage. But I'm not holding my breathe.

What, exactly, is the procedure for getting rid of a skunk that has been caught in a trap? Oh, wait, are you using a live trap or something more permanent?

We do catch them in a live trap, then we very carefully tip the trap up on its end and put an empty feed bag over the top of it. We then carry the whole thing as is over to the water spigot (is that the right word?) and put the bag open end up and fill-er-up. The skunk drowns rather quickly and this is the most humane way we have to dispose of the little critter without getting sprayed or causing unnecessary suffering.
We have neighbors about a mile down the road that catch the little buggers and then release them about two miles down the road from their house. Which incidentally is only a mile from our house! Because the lady of the house thinks they are "Too Cute" Sigh I am sure every skunk in my county thinks my property is the BEST! We lost one little Bantam Cochin (Aunt Jemimah) last fall to a skunk. And while I do think the skunks are just the cutest little wild animals there are, it is all out WAR I will kill every one I catch on my property. Okay I am done
DH helped me set the trap up tonight so I hope I catch my first one of the season tonight!

I can't see well enough into the Barred Olive Eggers from BHep, the Blue Isbars from The Sheriff or W/BW Ameraucanas from ParadiseFoundFarm to make a determination so those 27 stay.
The 36 Icelandics from my flock are all developing.
Of the 8 Golden Campines from Debs_Flock, I pulled 3.
Of the 24 Silkies from cjexotic, I pulled 10.
I left a few Campines and Silkies that were questionable, I'll check them at lockdown.
95 - 13 = 82 still in the incubator.........what was I thinking?!
