Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

That's fabulous! Now, do you see room for efficiency improvements?

Oh yes, I have reduced motion, excessive inventory and transportation. I haven't made the improved diagram yet. Still making slides on the Measure phase.

Sit down everyone.

In my almost 54 years on the planet I have never sipped, nor tasted, nor drank even a drop of coffee.

Believe it or not.

SCG! You're making a LGD look better and better! Seriously, thanks for the step by step, we've often wondered, 'what if we end up with a skunk in the trap?" Good to know.

Gotta go roll my egg, still no scale yet. I haven't added water since day one, hope it's okay in there, I'm dreaming of cute little EMUs, that do yardwork.

I love my LGDs, I don't worry a bit about the roaming dogs. I've seen them fight/play with each other, they are some tough puppies. And the puppy whining is a great Moose repellent

As for the EMUs, you can't get plural out of one egg. you better find another egg before this one gets too far along...

AAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!

Hubby used all the coffee beans yesterday and didn't tell me we were out.

You must report to the purchasing agent or the supplies won't be replenished, and this is the one supply I the purchasing agent cares about!!!
Makes me glad DH doesn't drink coffee, the teenager, on the other hand, knows better than to use the last cup

Well, I having chicks hatch and though they aren't a part of this hatchalong I thought I would share. I'm hatching 19 eggs for my friend from her chickens. They are mostly Buff Orps but a few Buff Orp/Barred Rock crosses. So far 11 have hatched with six more pipping/zipping. Only day 20 and only 3 arent doing anything so far. I also just set 12 of my chicken eggs in lockdown today and 5 Indian Runner Duck eggs (my first time hatching ducks) Hoping they hatch out great!

Our weather warmed up, into the low 40's yesterday and this morning, before sunrise, it's around 30 which means it will be above freezing shortly. Another day of melting and thawing. DH and I chiseled trenches in the driveway ice (which is about 4 - 6 inches thick) to channel the melt water to the french drain.

We have had record high snow falls this yer. And it's all still here, usually it blows away or melts away 2 or 3 times a year. Alaska will be having some flood issues if all this snow melts too fast.

Springtime is bitter sweet. Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day.

Yup. possible. I don't do Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew either. No caffeine for me.
I've never puffed a cigarette, not even once. Nor tasted a drop of alcohol (with the exception of Nyquil as needed for colds and allergies on that extremely RARE occasion once or twice a year)

For what it's worth.... I'm Mahonri er.......Dar

For anyone wanting to participate in Chookschick's cinco-de-mayo turkey hatchathon but only have one incubator. Here is a very inexpencive Hatcher that I built for the purpose to be able to participate. Thanks to another member who inspired me to do so. I posted these plans in the turkathon thread and decided to share it with you all in hopes you all will join us there as well.

Here are the picks of the hatcher I completed to hatch the eggs in my bator from the Easter hatch-along. They will go into lockdown in there. This will give me time to clean and disinfect my fridgebator for the turkey hatch-along. thanks to Zookeeper15133 for the idea to build it.

I built it from a styrofoam shipping container from a local pet store. It was a box that they shipped live fish in. I called and asked them and they told me they give them away or just throw them away. I would coll your local store to see if they have any. The light I got from a local thrift store for $1.50. The HW thermo I had laying around along with the metal grid. I pit water bottles on the bottom to use as heat sinks to slow the cycling of the lights and retain and give off heat. here are a set of plans to build your own incubator / hatcher. You can change the size if you like the principles are the same. *** If you decide to build one yourself note that you will be dealing with electricity and the possibility of shock is prevalent use caution please!***** I have these plans in PDF if anyone wants a copy PM me your e-mail and I will send it to you.
