My sweet Buff Orpington Roo died today

I have hatched so many of his babies and he was so gentle and handsome! I am going to miss him. The other roo in the pen beat him up it seems.

I'm sooooo sorry! I hope you have one of his sons as a back-up.

WHat is Miso and how do I find it???

Any Asian market will have it choose the lighter varies the red has a very strong favor. It is a fermented bean product. I like to make Miso soup, or at least my version of Miso soup, lots of different veggies and add miso mixed with water in for the last 10 to 15 mins.

You can also find Miso in any natural foods store, in the same section as the tofu. It's going to be in a tub or a jar, and you'll find different flavors: White, Yellow, Red and Brown. The white and yellow are mild in flavor, where the others are more pungent. Many times folks will simply heat up chicken broth or fish broth and add a tablespoon of miso and stir it in.

I LOVE miso!! I make a miso-encrusted tun steak, too....mmmmmmmmm!!

I must be hungry.

RebelInNY, I'm so sorry about your roo.

That's interesting to hear alternate sources of probiotics. I like the idea of getting it from natural sources. Whenever I go on antibiotics, I usually just take a acidophilus supplment, to replace anything that happens to get killed. So far, so good.

I need that recipe.. PLEASE

And I've tested this recipe many times, found it by accident, and it's worth it! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/amish-white-bread/Detail.aspx In fact I'm making two loaves right now.
That's the white bread recipe I use all the time. In fact, I've won the white bread class at my fair with that recipe for at least the last five years. That is the loaf I was making which started the whole discussion of bread baking on this thread, many, many page ago, March 5th to be exact. The only thing I've tweaked about it, is I add 2 Tbls nonfat dry milk.

Wow, this bread baking has really come full circle!

I use that recipe all the time! I usually use butter instead of vegetable oil. I also use it to make breadsticks, and then I use olive oil, and I cut the sugar in half.
