Quote: I have had an incubator running non-stop since December on the set day for the NYD hatchalong. That's kind of a lie, I actually have three of them running.
Let me see, my electric bill has been hovering in the vicinity of $400 a month for many months now............incubators, brooders, heat lamps................hmmmmmm, do I see a connection???
Deb
You should invest in a ecoglo, those things are wonderful. It is well worth the money. I.think I may buy the bigger one. I just got my electric bill down to 67$ I thought the electric company gave me the wrong bill. No it was a actual reading. About fell off my chair.
AND CAN'T STOP HATCHING ANYTIME I WANT.

Funny you should say that, I already have the 50 on it's way, got the confirmation email last night (and the current code is FRESH). It's really only going to replace the heat lamp in my overflow brooder. Besides the three incubators, I have one of these.
But I sometimes have to kick the chicks out of the top heated brooder, into the middle battery. If I think they still need some heat I use a heat lamp. Now I'm going to replace that with the Ecoglow50 and it will work better all around. Once they get kicked out of the bottom battery, they are out to the shed grow out pen, then out to an outside pen.
Okay, I admit it, I am addicted.

I bought a used one for my son when he was in 4H, three years ago when I moved I got rid of it (just the single brooder part). Admittedly, it had seen better days after being stored under the house for 15 years, but I really thought I'd have no use for it. I also gave away a barn full of rabbit equipment to the local 4H kids, his herd had numbered around 250 rabbits. Now I kind of wish I still had some of those banks of hanging wire cages, all the feeders, the automatic watering system (mostly for the water pressure regulator & all the piping) and the many show carriers. I could have repurposed quite a bit of equipment if I had known I was going to get back into poultry. Oh well, I made several 4H families very happy. The only requirement was they had to take EVERYTHING and haul it up the hill themselves.Oh my![]()
We had one of those growing up. My Dad used it for Cornish Crosses. Of course it was the1960s version and my not have has as many levels. there was also an incubator at the top.

They are sooo cute! I would love to have goats! Pretty babies! We ran out to the barn really quickly before church this morning and the two boys were up and wobbling..
The little girl is still extremely weak.. I stayed up till 1:30 with her, got up at 5:30 to feed her and she does seem to be getting a little stronger but still isn't standing.. Just now, she ate pretty good.. hopefully she'll keep getting stronger..
I'm heading out to the barn now and we'll get some more pictures...
