Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I'd be interested in a true demographic of the folks here. I'm 44 and assume most folks are younger than me. When I stop to think about it I change my mind. It's hard to say- this is a diverse community.

Drumstick Diva, I'd be delighted with the news of cataracts!! I'm legally blind but able to be corrected to 20/30 with contacts- glasses don't work as well. But with cataracts, you can get implanted contacts and have your vision corrected to 20/15 PERMANENTLY without having to mess with contacts daily!! How awesome would that be!?

The surgery is really easy, with nearly zero recovery. My MIL was a nurse at a surgeon's office and they whipped through 15 daily, with nothing but happy campers for patients. I have rudimentary cataracts in both eyes and can't wait for the need for surgery. I've had multiple surgeries in both eyes already due to my orbs' penchants for detached retinas...and let me tell you laser surgery near the optic nerve stinks!! I passed out from the pain and awoke to a grouchy doc who had to wait until I was able to hold my eye still to continue!! Mind you I have excellent pain tolerance and had two kids w/no drugs. Retina surgery is not cool...but it saved my vision over and over, so I bow to the dude who knows how to tack my eye back together...

But the cataract surgery is totally different and I can't wait!!!

This winter missed us totally and we have already had daffodils, hyacinths, tulips and wisteria come and go. Flowering trees are done. I'm watching my climbing roses explode now, and all of my alliums, peonies, creeping phlox and clematis are going. I'm neurotic about this, because what happens after that?Do all of my summer things go in May and then NOTHING until fall weather? That would stink. My azaleas are long done, the tall phlox is considering budding, the grapes have leaves and have begun dropping bud clusters...this is NUTS!!

Never should all of this be going so early.

I'll give it up..I will be 59 this fall. Where did the time go?? The grandchildren make it a great time.
So sorry about your eyes. I have problems with my eyes too. I've been diagnosed with Fibro, MS..other things..I just tell them, treat me when ever something flares up. I won't take what they want me to for the illness'. I don't want to be a zomby! My eyes, are soo sensitive to light. I have cysts on them, strange thing, I don't understand. They itch pretty bad at times. The eye dr. says that this is common in folks with MS. Eye drops don't help. Tried many different kinds. Sun glasses! I wear them everywhere. The lights in the stores are so bright. People may look, but my eyes feel so much better with the dark sun glasses on. Weird thing is, some days are better than others when it comes to my eyes. Of course with the legs, and other things..it's just a weird old body going on here. But life is great! I have too much good in my life to think otherwise.

I was born in 1953. I'm so old, sometimes I have to stop and figure out how old I am, cuz I forget. I will be 59 in August this year. Sheeeesh, I don't feel that old! Wait.... I don't really know what old is suppose to feel like.

My fear (in old age) is dementia or Alzheimer's. YIKES! What could be worse?!

I hope I have another 50 years of good health, because I sure have alot I want to accomplish. I have projects and goals that I would like to see through. I suppose that would be asking too much though.

I think I already told my age since Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1959 and I was born between the 2 events. I'll be 53 in a few short weeks.

BTW I am lovin my 50s!!! Well except for the aches and pains but that has been a problem since my early 20s. Wouldn't go back to 20 if ya paid me to!

I'm a '57 Classic.....Born that year anyway. I turned 55 in February.

OK you! You always make it sound like you are a decade or so older than me. 2 years?!! That's all ya got ? That's nothin'!

I kinda figured our ages were pretty close. Too many similarities in our stories!

I was cruisin King and Story while you were just able to eat at the Jack In The Box. LOL

I'm only 30. Most days I still mentally feel like I'm 12 and I'm waiting for my mom to come home and ask me why I'm wearing my pajamas at 6 PM and have a boy in the house.

Physically years of intense gymnastics have left my body creaking and cracking.

It all evens out I guess.
