Mail-order hatcheries with no minimum order requirements?

MyPetChicken seems to have the most suitable system for me. My area would require an 8 chick minimum, which is fine. I appreciate your help!

Posting a ad in the Farm & Garden section of Craigslist can be effective too. Cross-post in the Wanted section too.

There are multiple chicken and duck ads in our area every day.

I bought all mine from craigslist and had great success. look local to save on shipping and help out local economy. or at least BYC economy.

I got mine from healthychicksandmore.com The minimum is only10. I got mine last May. All arrived fast and healthy and have been very healthy since - haven't lost one. Also, the sexing turned out to be 100% accurate. They also have good customer service. I know because I emailed them about 10 times with chicken and order questions. Each time they were very patient with me, kind and responded withing a 24 hrs.

My first chickens were from my pet chicken and I got 4, I ordered 3 I believe and got one more

They were packaged very well and all made it through shipment fine. They are VERY nice there as well.

I ordered 10 from Ideal Poultry this past spring. I requested "No Males for Warmth". Because I really, really, didn't need a bunch of little cockerels running around! The 10 that I got all arrived alive, and all were female. (Of course, there is always a risk of a sexing mistake. I feel that I got lucky.)

If you do it that way, and have fewer chicks in the box, they require that you buy postal insurance on the order. It came to $1.65. So, don't be afraid of the mysterious insurance charge. It was cheap!
