Hmmm. to drive an hour and a half for a silkie... or not.. BAH! My hubby will never go for it LOL. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr he's no fun. hehehe. too bad we're going on vacation in may, or I'd meet you somewhere in the vicinity when we're at the fedco tree sale at the beginning of may!

sanford has swaps every weekend once they start up. there might be other swaps in the area but these are the only ones I have info on. if you hear of others, i will gladly post them up. if you are close to NH you could also look there. I have some blue silkies (carry the paint gene) but i'min central maine near augusta.

if i ever travel down your way, i could let you know

Oh I am so aggravated. :( none of the chick places around here have any of the breeds I am looking for! and if I'm going to start them so they lay this year, I need to do it now or we have to wait until june (then they probably won't lay this year) as we're goin on vacation in may.

dominiques, black sex links, marans or welsummers, and a blue/green egg variety. and one silkie hehehe.

Looking for chicks? I was going to set EE eggs the beginning of next week... They could be ready for 3 weeks after set date. But, it also depends on how many you want.

I'd totally do it, but if I am going to start I need to start this week. If not, I have to wait until june. which I dont' really want to do :( we're vacationing mid may and I can't take care of tiny chicks then. they'll have to be ready to go out in the coop. shoot. I wish I had remembered about the vacation weeks ago so I could have ordered the chicks from the local feed store in time! and I won't be able to get chickens for a long while (this batch took a lot of convincing LOL!) so I sort of am being really picky with the breeds. I hate the fact that I might have to settle!

I have 3 EE hatched last sunday and silkies of various ages, the marans I have are on hold until I decide what I'm keeping and the rest are spoken for.
you should have more then one silkie, they really need friends like them.
if you can, there is a swap in augusta next saturday at tractor supply 8:30-1:00. I won't be bringing the EE unless presold just due to age. pm me if interested.
